I'm running 2bar through my T35, now i've heard a few people say a dump valve should be run with that boost.. i've never bothered tbh and the Turbo's i've had have lasted, so, TRUTH, or MYTH??

a t34 is very strong and won't give up with that boost,

Obviously the dump valve takes the strain off it But like I say the t34 will take it

 

Thanks Jimbo, i thought this too hence why i've NEVER fitted one tbh, but you do hear different views, opinions etc...

 

You will always get conflicting answers but we never fit them unless the customer wants them!

 

i would use one pete the came with them standard is i more the fact you just dont like the noise they make?

 

Doug they ran 8 or 10 psi standard lol, I think it was more to keep them quiet!

 

yeh i know they only run little boost but they still fitted then this is what i ment lol like you say some people say yay others will say naaaaaaaa guess its down to choice and in myhonest opinion is they need them hence why mine have them lol

No nothing to do with noise tbh mate, just don't want to if i don't need to..

As i said, i've heard a few people blame the LACK of not having a Dump Valve fitted for their Turbo failure, that's what was concerning me mate..

Mind you, my last 3dr running NMS Live Map @ 33psi lasted over 4yrs or more without one and that had alot of track use too after i sold the car...

 

PS, Doug, i'll post the Spacers tomorrow bud...

in my opinion it cant do the turbo any good constantly being stalled/stopped it must put alot of stress?shock on the shaft

The gt series turbo have thinner shafts so need them yes, its not just because your running 2.2 bar

 

i dont like them they are for the gays and confused

but for drivabilty wise surely having one fitted so the turbo dont stall and keeps spinning will mean a quicker pick up when back on the throttle as you dont have to wait that extra few seconds for it to start spoiling up again

 

So if running a t38 on greys will it prolong the life of the turbo with a dump valve fitted. Does it have any effect on power or just mate it spool up quicker??

 

all these multi million pound car makers like ford vw renault and i dare say a lot of others dident fit them for no reason did they lol and u carnt say its for noise as a by pass valve is there to re leave pressure if it was just a noise thing then it wouldent be there full stop as a low psi factory car wouldent make any noise with out it being there

 

how come with some valves when you back off the throttle you still get the airfilter noise first then the dump.. mines got a gt30 and with the old baily valve it goes off all the time and makes a right noise but no filter noise first.. put the ggr one on and the valve hardly ever goes off unless lots of boost but lots of filter fluttery noise .. now have a tial one on their and when backing off it makes the filter noise for a split second then the valve makes a little dump..

 

Sounds like u like dump valves way to much lol maybe they all have different spring rateings in them? they do all defo make different noises but do also sound chav lol i had a baily one on mine when i had 350 at 25psi that hissed and was just embarrassing now people say its not the valve that chatters anyway i put a spec r one on it as they look much better under the bonnet and it chattered lol still have it on there now with 500bhp at 2.6 bar and it chatters and flutters like f**k lol dose sound cool but again embarrassing in front of people who dont get it or know what it is

 

so do different dump values effect the performance?

 

I was advised at 2.2 bar to fit one on a 38 - imo i prefer the dump valve to the pigeon valve - both annoy the fuck out of me lol

 

On a t38 yes use one!

 

the spec r one looks like the ggr one with a filter dont it..?
think the tial one looks better.. matches my wastegate now..

I personally would get a recirculating one! Nice and quiet then, a Bailey is always a good choice we use a twin piston on the dyno and it has lasted well

ive noticed on all my turbo cars that there is slightly less lag between gear changes with a dumpvalve fitted than without, but having said that i do love how my cossie sounds without it fitted!

Why does a T4/T38 need one then, whereas a T34 doesn't? Is it to do with the amount of air they can shift?

Yes I think so, there isn't as much air stopping that comp wheel from spinning so harshly on smaller turbos!
