Default tt t38 ut t38 driveable differences??

hi folks, has anyone drive a yb with a ut t38 and a tt t38 and can tell me if the extra kick u get from a tt t38 is worth it? I hope it is as i got a stage one and thinking of running greys and the bigger tt t38. Anyone getting rid of their tt t38 or selling one? Cheers luke

Not if you want to run any real power

i was hoping for about 380 with plenty of torque but havent discussed this with any tuners yet. So what would be the limitations of head gasket and clutch? 330bhp?

Don't bother, put a t34 for on it, set of ice blue injectors and have a awesome responsive 380bhp engine

Your going to get the same throw back in the seat as its making the same power but a t34 will make more mid range torque so better everywhere!

Put a .63 housing on the back of a t34 to giveyou a bit of lag if you want it, but you'll soon get fed up of it

i know what u mean mate but with a t38 at least it gives me more scope for bigger power later on whereas the t34 will be on its limit. Have u driven a set up with a t34 and t38??

Yes plenty, t34 will do 400bho with a very well specced engine where the t38 will do 440 on a near std engine

The t34 I love, the low down punch is great, the t38s are fairly leggy, a t34 would trounce a 38 car on short bursts

But a t38 will give the top end power,

But if you just want 380 on either then your obviously just going to loose out going for the bigger turbo running less boost

Like I say I love t34 engines, we done loads of these conversions on ice blues and every customer hadps been over the moon!

i think i really need to get in steve's car and sample his tt t38. So is there a big difference between standard t3 and t34.68? I know there's a big power difference but is there a big kick difference?

my problemo is im trying to get the biggest power gains while keeping the yb as standard as possible, im trying to avoid headwork and new clutch etc. In your profesional opinion whats the biggest set up i can get away with on standard engine. I.ve got greys already so hopefully include them lol

I had a UTT38 on my old saff and hated it, BUT to be fair the Engine was speced for a T4, it made 442bhp and olny 356ft/lb, my T35 has better torque, yes it's only got 356bhp but it's the way it delivers it..

Well greys are good for 450 no more so that's all your ever going to see.

A t38 will make it easier, just keel the boost down for reliability

I'd go with a good head gasket and go from there a t34 at 380 on a std engine with a good head gasket will be bomb proof though, proven for years and like I say fab conversion so up to you, either way will be fine on STD engine

That is the sort of spec i ran for about a year, Group a head gasket, light blues and t34.48 on standard engine got it set up by carwise and the car was awsome.

If your clutch is old and standard I do not think you will be able to run 380bhp on it for long...

As for turbo's, I have not been in a T38 car but I have been in a well spec'd T34 car and they are very good and very quick on the road

Do msd do a chip for light blue injectors or would it be better to just get frets or siemens? Im currently running a t34.55 and it's awesome on the road, really punchy. You get the laggy feeling of a powerful saff but without the extra waiting. I just want a little bit more power and would like a set of injectors that are well within their comfort zone. So is it light blues, greys or 55lb siemens? Sorry to hijack your thread matey!

55lbs would be your best bet, i don't think you can get new 400s now.

I had a T34.55 with 400s, it made 372bhp.

Lukey, one tip, DON'T get stressed out on number chasing....ot'll cost you lots of money and breakages on the way if you're still on standard clutch etc..

A T34.63 is a nice road car as people call it, infact a T34.48 is lovely too, very punchy and on the right spec will see 360bhp with similar or more torque, there's plenty of options for you, just my 2 penneth that's all mate.

most people want rid of lag to make a decent road going car but it seems tat you want it Steves got a thing about numbers at the moment its gone from hp numbers to 0-60 times to 0-150 times

I had a stage 3 (350-360hp) and the clutch used to slip, iv got a 450hp engine built b Harvey/ Jim from above which has been built for 550+ if i change the turbo, ECU and injectors, They are also building me a 550+ bhp Rs500 engine now iv told them on every engine i want it responsive low down with enough grunt to make me happy. So you can get a good responsive engine with enough power/ bppst to throw ou back.

A tuner is one thing you dont mind traveling for as they can either make or break the car.. Im based in Oz and use SCS ( Harvey & Jim)

Hi mate, its always faster to email me as I rarely get round to dealing with forum PM's nowadays. You can mail me on sales@remapping.co.uk

If you just need a chip, this is the page you need.

I only have the internet on my phone. If i went for your 380 package, but used greys could i get a bit more boost or power compared to the injectors v suggest or would the greys have a negative effect?
