wat are the costs involved how easy is it to install and can you map it yourself or do you need a good idea of mapping as to be honest i wouldnt know where to start willing to learn and try but dont want to find myself stuck with no car im already on efi with ofac but starting to find its limitations! wat options do i have i know alot of you use megasquirt and some on omex
my zetec turbo is running on KMS ecu cost Ł600 loom and coil driver cost just over Ł200 its not the cheepes ecu out there but works very well and very easy to use. most of the mapping was done by myself so no cost there. but then my wideband and det cans cost me a small fortune

Megasquirt will cost you 6-700 total.
Efi inlet (Ł50 complete)
Efi to mfi head adapter (Łguess at 50)
Crankshaft position sensor setup (Ł80 for the fiesta flywheel setup)
Wide band lambda (for tuning) (Ł170)
The ECU (Ł400 with options for MS2)
Coil pack (Ł20)
Wiring loom (easiest to make from scratch). (Łaround 100)
Injectors (Ł150)
New sensors (Ł40)
Total- Ł1060
You don't need new injectors, sensors or lambda which brings it down to Ł700 and my ecu was Ł300 in total but i've added my own outputs in the prototype area.
Its cheaper than any other after market system, you can map it your self (tuner studio pro essentially maps for you), and you will learn a shit lot by doing it.
The ecu you need will have wasted spark and a 3bar map. Its around Ł380 in its basic form. But i would recommend a few optional extras, like 2 stage fan control, tacho and lauch control etc.
You could get the price down to nearer Ł5-600 by being a bit pikey but its worth doing properly once.

Rob,
I'd recommend the Omex 600 ECU all day long. Nice and easy to use and Omex will send you a base start file to get it running. Then you just have to get it running properly. Really easy ECU to get to grips with and the support is only at the end of a phone if you need it.
If you fancy a real challenge then a Life Racing F88RS ECU will keep your head up your arse for a while!!

Karlos kindly donated me a base map which after a bit of fiddling to suit my injectors works well. On the road i will do my own VE map but will do the final ignition on a RR (can be bothered to buy and det cans! might make some though)

Rob,
Ahhh sorry i didn't read that part.
It will be much cheaper for you then, but still Ł500 minimum all said and done.
Advantages over OFAC? well you can map it your self, its far more adaptable (can run closed loop fueling), has a load of options like boost control, launch control etcetc. And a great forum full of people who don't mind helping.
