how many companies (the co-op in this case) are ok with you buying the car back from them?

the wifes honda has been classed as a write-off (rear 1/4 panel damage), apart from that damage the rest of the car is mint, ive replaced a few rear 1/4 panels in my time so would'nt think anything of doing another, but are they likely to turn round and say no?

 

not 100% sure but usually you can buy the car back for 10% of the price they think its worth

 

It will depend on the category of write off whether you can buy it back, and also the insurers own policy on this. Call them.

 

well, the insurers took it to 1 of their approved repairers who classed it as a write-off, i ask if their was any sturctural damage and the reply was no.

no the isurers want it taken to them so their ppl can look at it, the wifes phoned them but they cant do/say owt 'till they see the car.

 

My motorbike got hit from behind by a bus and I went through my insurance who later claimed from the bus company.

It was written off and they refused to sell it back

At this point I pointed out that until I had accepted the settlement the bike was still mine and unless they played ball I would report it stolen

I got it back eventually but they had sent to a pikey outfit called Copart who caused loads more damage to it delivering it back.
