Default Turbo gasket

Should you run turbo with or without a gasket between turbo and the manifold

Without, if your worried about it blowing you need to get the mating faces machines flat.

Made without gasket but you find its better to use one to make a tight seal.

so long as the mating surfaces are flat you will be fine if you use a gasket they tend to end up blowing the gasket anyway

Mines got a gasket, but my manifold was 2nd hand and i never got it re-faced - but you are sposed to use it without, gasket it to take up imperfections!

I tried using the gaskets and always found the material they were made of was poor quality and the centre of the gasket would fall apart causing the manifold to blow.....went back to no gasket and had no more issues

Me?

Not really, last one i tried was a cometic one so not a cheapy as such.....what's the 'proper' version then, rs turbo's didn't come with one as standard so wasn't aware of a vastly better quality one available?
I know i had the same problems with exhaust manifold gaskets, only the genuine ford ones with the fire ring gaskets ever lasted i found over the years.

Ford never designed one and only reason i can think was to save costs. There only two versions going about, cosmetic one that looks cheap but spose to be better or the thin metal sleeve.ive only had the metal sleeve version that has flange one side with no problems.
I know what you mean about ford gaskets are best.been down that road..
If you know someone who has the right tools, then get both skimmed for flat surface.studs will get in way tho.
