Sold my Beetle now and took this in as part ex. Was originally going to break it but having driven it about for the last few days it’s FAR too good to break!! My mate who I part ex’d it from has owned it for a good few years and spent thousands getting it up to this standard! Only one previous owner before him who was his father in law!
Spec is as follows:
Escort 1.6 Finesse
119k on clock
Usual Finesse spec, electric windows, air con, wood dash, leather trim etc etc….
MOT and tax until September this year
2.0 Zetec fitted, mileage on engine is about 74k, complete overhaul with everything new (still a 1.6 on the logbook)
New cambelt fitted
New plugs
New filters
New alternator and starter
New clutch fitted a month ago with lightened and balanced flywheel
All wishbones, bushes, driveshafts, CV gaitors recently fitted
Literally everything on this car has been replaced, its drives better than my Audi! My mate is a concours nut (owns a mint saff cossie) and his addiction had gone onto this!! He estimates he's spent around 5k - 6k on it!!
Other mods include:
16" Mondeo alloys in MINT condition, no curb marks at all
4 brand new Falken FK452 tyres, done about 150 miles!!
Magnex 4 branch manifold and stainless exhaust system
Custom one off Gaz Coilover suspension, fully height adjustable front and rear as well as damper adjustable.
Cosworth Recaro leather seats in MINT condition, bolsters have had new foams etc and there is not wear at all on either seat!
Newer Ford CD player
Cosworth front discs and callipers
Escort RS2000 rear beam conversion with rear discs! (who said this couldn’t be done??!!)
New front headlights and fogs (headlights not to everyones taste!!)
Bodywork is in superb condition, no parking dings up either side, small bit of rust starting on the rear quarter on one side and a couple of marks on the rear bumper where things have been taken in and out of the boot.
The car starts on the button first time, doesn’t smoke, rattle, burn oil etc, gearbox is superb and clutch is brand new. Everything works as it should, even the air con!!
Am going to put it up for £1500 ono as it stands with the tax etc..... May do a part ex for a diesel Astravan or something interesting!!

I like the look of this. So does it go well then. I like the look of the cossie seats in it. It would look cool on escos wheels.

 

Cheers! Yeah it go quicker than I expected, I havent driven it many times but it surprised a few motors but I put me foot down!! The thing that gets me is the way it drives, it actually feels like new, really strange!!!!

 

Absolute cracker,years of life left in that.very reliable cars too.

 

Definitely years left in it, especially as pretty much everything is new as well now!

Dropped the price now to £1250 before it goes on ebay!

What the underside like rust wise?

 

Absolutely nothing under there mate, the chap I bought it from would've got it sorted immediately if there was any!!

Glenn - performance wise it goes really well, i'm used to my S4 Audi so it doesnt feel like a rocket ship, but it does definitely surprise other drivers!! If I were to keep it i'd put the original wheels back on it to disguise it a bit!

 

When do you think you'll put it on eBay?

Ok cool. Ive kinda fallen in love with this car and was desperatly trying to figure out a way of getting it but if you already got people interested in it then I aint got a chance lol Plus the only px I could offer is a white 3dr GTI, not what you want lol.
