Depends on the exact gear linkage that you have.

IF the "gate" is in the bottom of the lever, then yes, you can buy the bits from Ford. If the "gate" is in the gearbox itself, then no, the bits are NLA from Ford.

If the "ball" is worn though inside the lever, another linkage is the only real solution.

To find out what type you have, look on the bottom of the lever casing under the car. If you have an "84" code, then you have the early one, if (either 87 or 88), then you have the late one. Either that or mark and then disconnect the linkage from the gearbox and see if you can still select gear locations or whether it is like "stirring porridge" with no resistance.

I bought my gear linkage bits from:

http://www.ywkparts.co.uk

Has both the gates for the two types of housing, tight as a nun's lady garden now.

we fitted a puma linkage to my old S2, came from a standard 1.7 Puma and fits straight on, with a minor bit fettling at gear stick end (had to drill 2 small holes) but the difference is amazing - well worth doing!
