RS2000 4wd Drivetrain in Focus RS
Prior to the launch of the Focus RS a gentleman placed an RS2000 4wd drivetrain into a focus. The car was in an issue of fast ford in early 2003. The title was RS beater. I will make sure to post up some pics on here of the article.
What I am wondering is if this is a viable conversion or did it not work? Does anyone have info on this build or any builds like it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

yes it was purple and there were some mondeo parts on it. How come more like this car were not made? I haven't been able to find any more info on it other then the magazine article (july 2003)

Mondeo running gear, but wasn't seen much after the feature. A guy on here has a Focus running on Mondeo components, no complaints from what I gather.
Would never use RS2000 transfer box, can just about handle 150bhp
hello people, the purple focus was my car and still is, but very different now with full wrc 03 kit including the rear spoiler its running mondeo gearbox and transfer box as the rs 2000 set up was exploding when giving it any stick so far the mondeo stuff is holding up. It was dyno'd to set up a dta s60 a while ago and first run was 444bhp which was so spooky as the reg on it is *444 COS we played around and got it up to 480 something but can't find the printout for that one just the 444, so its still going. I built it because ford did'nt and they could have and don't think if ford had made a focus rs 4x4 it would have been that much different to mine that was the technology of the day.
just to add a bit to that, back when i started this car in 1999 nothing was available for the focus and ag motosport did'nt exist and a few hero's of this site were in prison for nicking escort cozy's by the dozen

the power split is the other way round with the mondeo 4x4 stuff which is what he is now using,
60 to the front 40 to the rear
well done no need to upset certain people but enough know who they are, however just like you say 60 front 40 rear and drive just like my focus rs does with extra grip mondeo transfer box is a world apart from the rs2000 its years ahead in development and stronger. I dont boot it from the lights or anything but on track days its held up ok with banging down to 3rd and 2nd alot so far one thing the gearbox is modified for the change set up and clutch but otherwise "standard"

no as far as I know its the same split for the mondeo and the rs2000, but if you open up the transfer boxes, the mondeo has far better components, a lot later in development and had to move a heavier car than the rs2000 type. The gear boxes are the same mtx75 and the other apparent weakness is the rear diff but so far so good with that and both mondeo and escort appear to be the same

They aren't the same. They are as said above, split is reversed from mondeo compared to RS.
You can not mate a Mondeo transfer box to a Escort MTX75 either as they differ also.
Lots of dirrerances between the two systems not just strength but I do agree, the Mondeo running gear is slightly stronger than the RS equivelent.
I have a genuine Ford manual some where for the Mondeo 4x4 system, it's about 14 pages. It was the manual sent to Ford dealerships for the mechanics.
I bought it off Ebay about 9 years or so back.

how do i copy this file to my computer?
Any one that knows if a Mondeo estate 4x4 driveline is the same as on a Mondeo 5 doors 4x4 driveline? Can it all be put from a estate on a 5 doors without any mods on the prop? I am thinking maybe the prop will be shorter on a 5 door?

no not the same rear end, possably all the front is, or looks the same but rear axle is totally different with springs and dampers also uprights are different as well , diff looks the same but would check the ratios as possably be different
Spill the beans then, who is or are the scum bag as being on the end of the mess and grief caused to an attempted robbery of my old car I would like to know who to steer clear of. Sorry great car buy the way but these fookers make my shit itch
