can someone please help me and point me in the right direction for a starter for a st220 ,price etc ....just getting confussed on the net now

give me a bell and can do you genuine one for Ł160
Ł10 delivery , there is Ł42 surcharge on top but you get that back on return of old unit

if its anything like the 2.5 V6, in a word mate, no

 

Once the air box an bellows and batt are out the way its only four bolts two for the loom section two to hold it ,add a bit more time and its out .

 

Depends on the engine though...i read write ups where the starter is ontop of the gearbox, whereas mines is at the front. only have to take battery out and loosen the sumpgaurd underneath...all in all can change it in about 30-45mins

 

whats wrong with the starter though?

in most cases it's the dual mass breaking up and buggering the starter, so make sure there's a good inspection of the internals of the bellhousing for swarf and shit like that

 

Very true, well known for being clogged up with dust aswell. Had mine off the other month to clean it out as it wasnt engaging

any possible hints/posts to inspecting the dmf? I am hoping it is just the battery being flat or low of charge rather than getting into chanting bits and pieces. At this rate I might just break the car as if its the DMF might as well replace clutch etc and I am sure the car is worth more in bits than if I have to replace that lot!

 

they are worth more in bits for the specific st bits, but other than that, they are still worth even standard mondeo asking prices

but you have to have the fancy bits on in the first place
