Default Wiring stereo to parking brake.

Hey guys and gals.

I have fitted a w404 alpine stereo to my mondeo 2004 but there is a lead that needs connecting to parking brake to access the options screen.
Where can this be wired to?
i am aware of bypass boxes which i may purchase but in the meantime is there

1) a place to connect it properly (view video only when parked etc..)
2) a work around to watch video, access options at anytime?

Thanks

Most parking switches are just an earth , basically when handbrake is applied earth circuit completes and opens the viewing mode.
Just prep the earth surface , ground the wire and you shoud be good to go.

Okay thanks I will try this tommorrow. Why do people bother with alpine bypass boxes if it's so simple?

I think the alpine bypass box is really just a expensive way to ensure theres no back emf coming through the earth side of things.
I normally put them direct to ground but tapping into the earth on the loom is fine.
