Default Poly carb windows. ACW plastic

Has anyone used them? I was looking for Perspex windows for my mk3 golf track car. I saw on eBay this company offering poly carb well over half the price I have already had quotes for.
I phoned to make sure there was no catch. All seemed good so I made the order.
They turned up yesterday and they are spot on. Brilliant quality with square sliders in the front door windows.
Any one looking into poly carb windows give them a search. I had a good chat with the owner tony and he said if someone phoned with an order and mentioned me (Tristan with mk3 vr6 on isle of Wight) he would offer a better deal? I will get pics of them as soon as I can.

For my back window 2 rear 1/4s and front door windows with sliders all delivered was about £160 I think.
Like has been said edges are all rounded no sharp square cut edges.

Polycarbonate is ok, but it yellows, unlike acrylic(perspex), although poly less likely to chip, poly has poorer clarity, and cannot be polishes clear unlike acrylic, perspex is just a trade name, but poly is more impact resistant, so pros and cons for each, acrylic is/should be MUCH cheaper though.
A major disadvantage of poly is it scratches a LOT easier than acrylic.

Perspex shatters with sharp jagged edges and should not be used for car windows.

I have got perspex in the rear quaters at the mo and its fogged after very short use. I spoke to someone who has had poly carb for over a year and its still clear with no scratches or fogging. there are pics of a civic type r on the website that has had a prang and the panel that is hit is caved in and the poly carb is just out of shape. He cut it out and re fitted it after it was repaired no issues.

The degree and speed of yellowing is dependant on how good the UV coating is on the material. I believe that for safety reasons it is only polycarbonate that is approved by the FIA and MSA for motorsport, the reasoning being that perspex and acrylic are brittle and shatter dangerously.

aye, acrylic has good and bad propeties. As tabetha says, it can be polished which is great, it can be thermoformed repeatedly which is handy, but, as you say it shatters like a bitch and I would never consider it in a car! Polycarb of the right thickness is genuinely bullet proof, its amazingly strong but does scratch and is very tricky to work with. Id wear the scratches though for the protection it gives.

The acrylic I use, is NOT perspex brand, and has a 15 year anti yellowing warranty, I paid around £30 for 3 square metres, of 5mm thick.
Seriously deep sea subs use ACRYLIC for example, as glass just doesn't hack it, including the deepest sub dive in the world.
