Default what to do with my 4i??

Hi fairly new to this site, I have a 2.8i XR4i. The engine is showing signs of wear, smoking a little from the valve seals.

Unsure what to do repair my engine using new heads modded for unleaded then try and find a turbo technics kit for it or go for the 24v cosworth engine.

If I went for the 24v conversion I will need to know exactly what work is involved as I dont want the car to be off the road for long.

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't turbo the 2.8 as I think they were single turbo kits and never that highly rated. I think they make about 200bhp. Better option is the 24v - same power as the turbo and a much better engine. I can't tell you how hard the conversion is though as I had mine converted to 24v by Top Boss but I wouldn't recommend them.

I personally wouldn't bother with any of the boat anchor ford V6's, even the cossie one, it was even worse than the yb!!
Seriously in this day and age why not consider something radical like a TD lump, like a 330d lump, same bhp as v6 cossie, but around 100ftlb more, at around 2000rpm less whilst doing 45mpg, and that is before it is even chipped easily and cheaply, will last a lot longer as well.
If going for a later engine 245bhp std, Ł240 later it is 300bhp, and nearer 50mpg,(tdi tuning box), extra 100nm as well!!.
This will piss all over a v6 cossie, and a huge amount of other cars come to that, think it's the way I'd go doing it all again.
