Is read this on a blog.

According to Gayu Eusegi, head of global product development for Mitsubishi, the Lancer Evolution X will be the last Evo the Japanese automaker ever builds. Eusegi says the move is part of a shift in strategy to put the company's product focus and ethos on leadership in EV technology.
To that end, Autocar indicates that Mitsubishi will release eight fully-electric or hybrid-electric cars by the time 2015 rolls around, and make a grab for a big portion of the CO2-reduction market share. It goes without saying that the fun-yet-fuel-swilling Evo just doesn't fit that mindset, particularly since it apes a rally car that no longer exists.
Despite the Evo's huge popularity, Mitsubishi apparently isn't scared of the step and says it's confident that consumers will glom on to the idea and rally behind the brand. By killing the Evo, they're making their intentions plain to an increasingly environmentally-conscious car-buying public.
Eusegi killed dead any notion that the brand would roll out a performance-oriented hybrid as well. "Maybe the world can change, and maybe someday we can do a motor race by electric vehicles. Maybe then we can enter the market agian," he said.
This report of the Evo's death would seem to stand in contrast to multiple reports that an Evo XI is in the works with a hybrid drivetrain. We're taking this latest Autocar missive with a few grains of salt, as we can see how Eusegi may have simply meant that an Evo that relies exclusively on internal combustion is dead – a hybrid Evo would seem to offer a nice technological bridge to Mitsubishi's more electrically minded future. Hat tip to Dennis!
What do you think about this?

subaru seem to have got the idea back again after the last stupid idea,,,,, but its fuel costs and general costs of high emissions cars that is killing them off a bit like the old muscle cars in the states

and my scooby drives alot different to my cossie,,,,, and there is fuck all electric about mine apart from ABS but you would never see me doing 130 in a cossie with 1 hand on the wheel relaxed which is what i could do in my scooby before i fitted the coilovers,,,,, now the car is so fucking harsh that i hold the steering wheel to hold myself in the seat pmsl
honestly go out in a few and drive a few, i was more than suprised that i bought the first one i ever drove there and then !!! and i only went on the test drive as the missus wanted a scooby,,,,,,, i wanted a M3
im prob the last person to impulse spend 4.5k
Sadly this is the way the world is going, oils not going to last for ever.
Personally, if they could make a decent hybrid or electric sports car that can match current petrol performance, I would buy one.
At the end of the day, its going to be Hybrids for long distance/performance stuff and the electric for the hopping around town in.

with all the gay eco freakness going on i wonder how long before companies like ferrari are forced out of business as their cars and any performance petrol engine in a new car is effectively outlawed by emissions restrictions killing off anything other than a hybrid??
thats the way the governments will get us. Just make emissions testing silly strict and we wont have a choice what to buy.

u are on a ford site so he probs dose think his is better and in my opinion id rather have my 4x4 saph than a evo4-5. i loved my palls fq360 mr evo9. but it cost more to run than a cossie so he now drives a scooby wr1. and in his words, is a sack! compaired 2 his evo and loves taking my cossie out, for some fun.
shame to see them go but u could see it coming for a long time. i mean the couldent re enter wrc any more un less they useda evo colt,

A sport petro leci car can be good and it can be done , just think you got a little hot hatch with this little three pot turbo putting out say 90 bhp then you hit the big red button and in cuts 200 bhp of leci motor feking whoosh!
a shame, not more and not less.
very iconic and technically advanced cars for their time, i bet an evo 6 for example will retain its value just like the lancia integrale do.
let's face it, they were a really really cool car apart from the interior that had the charme of a japanese fridge
RIP Evos

It's a sad loss to all sports car fans imo, personally I'd never have a evo over a cossie, BUT the evo makes the cossie looks the archaic piece of crap it is, it's a fact, but then considering the age between them I'm not surprised, I'd have a evo long before a FRS though.
darryl c is very misguided about electric vehicles if he thinks they are ineffective, ever been in a tesla ?, I have many times, not mine sadly, but I'd love to do 125 miles to the gallon, equivalent, have 288bhp at ZERO RPM with 90% efficiency, 250 mile range, 0-60 in 3.7, no oil, petrol, anti freeze, plugs, timing belts, or any other oily bits, then sit as a 125mpg car and blow away most performance cars at the lights, whilst costing likely 1/12 of the cost to run just in petrol terms, let alone adding all the other costs above.
I'd swap the cossie for one in a heartbeat, no noise no fuss, no gear changing, 14,000 silent rpm.
Type in electric car on youtube and watch all the top cars getting their arses handed to them on a plate over the 1/4 mile, the tesla is not even that fast by fully electric performance standards.
A electric 4wd evo, would be something awsome, and will come, pity ford produce such shit these days, or they might get more customers in future.
I find driving evo's pretty much the same as any other jap car, way way better than most fords but dull, due to taking away a lot of the fun(read danger) of getting it right(read wrong) with such ease of going insanely quick.
Seriously a cossie is so outclassed by a evo, as it has very right to be due to age, but I still love my cossie, despite the evo being a better car imo.

not good but can see the direction mitsubishi want to go in.. how long before people cant afford petrol etc then it goes to hybrid/electric and if mitsubishi are in the front line of that they will take the rewards from this move.
It can compare though. Maybe only in terms of what the owner wants from a car admittedly but that doesn't make someone stupid if the cossie is preferred.
