Default What car for 9k max that kind of meets the following spec?

Anyone able to suggest a car (and ideally a link to one for sale) that meets this spec more or less:

Criteria, not big, not small, sort of Focus / Astra sized £9k max budget, ideally would be say £7-9k max, low-ish miles (say 60k tops maybe) Petrol or Diesel, but needs to be a bit pokey but not silly on fuel either.
Needs to look 'pretty'

Something not too boring to suit a pretty lady please

Links please!!

Shame, the skoda is super on fuel, very practical and goes really well. If the Leon is too big then it's a no prolly, but worth a test drive as they don't feel big at all. I get 40 mpg on a steady motorway run and 30 when kicking it's tits in. Should get a sub 30k one easy in your budget.

They aren't too bad if you drive it like a granny! Mine will do 37 mpg, but when I stick my foot down it goes down to single figures lol

Look good, ticks the boxes on fuel, pokey, Astra sized etc.

Seem to be strong on the money though. Just seen an 80k miler, with a dead turbo for 9k on Ebay.

Any links?

theres a few on pistonheads, slightly over your budget though.but the extra you spend buying you save on insurance compared to other cars mentioned so worth considering for the long term

cheapest here but needs work

Focus 2.0 tdci with a remap? The same engine in my old mans mondeo is meant to do 190+ bhp with a remap.

Gavin.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...1501?logcode=p

And on Celtic tuning's website they claim 186bhp which isn't too bad for a oil burner.

Vxr 220... Light, so good on fuel, great handling, pokey, simple, reliable. Only the looks divide opinion, I don't mind them, but some people hate them.

would probably be my choice aswell.very nice cars to drive.

c20tbo's 888 looks decent for the money and i doubt it would lose much more over the next year or so.could be cheap motoring if nothing goes wrong..

Where I live is quite hilly. Also there are lots of roadworks on my daily route so massive tailbacks in every direction. I only drive in town, well 95% anyway so when on the motorway, I do push it a bit to make up for it.

I want a remap for it but not sure if there is any point. Im also considering different wheels to the Kei's I have on right now.

youll get nowhere near 30mpg unless you are cruising on the motorway

i did lots of london journeys in mine before i got a dail driver and it always did 230 miles to a tank, works out around 19mpg

Focus has been suggested so i'll throw another in to the mix. Mk5 Astra SRi 1.9 CDTi 150 XP.
If you ask me as nice to drive as the Golf/A3 a remap can see best part of 200BHP.
My sister has one and it happily returns 40MPG all day long and better when on the M-way.
Try hold out for one with leather there heated too. Quiet rare to fine a full spec one.
