wouldn't an exhaust centre be a better bet? normally they dont charge labour, or well at least nothing on a garage scale?

Yeh the drive shaft has a bearing carrier that bolts to the back of the block. Undo the 2 13mm nuts take the bracket off then remove the shaft right out. You will have to remove the top exhaust heat shield. Hopefuly the bolts wont round off. If i was you i would get a proper ford one cause the garage i worked at,at the time i fitted 2 mickey mouse cats and the car kept coming back. I fitted a proper ford one and never seen the car agan.
