Hi guys what size wire do I need for a fuel pump rewire? I know this has been asked loads

3mm thinwall would be ideal

Mine looks more like 6mm . What fuel pump are you running as if its the Group A fuel pump it uses more current than a standard pump thats why mine could be 6mm cable .

 

There's not much in it really, the "group a" 044 pump has a higher lockout pressure that's the main difference, something that is never needed on a cossie anyway, as it locks out at 11.2 bar, power consumption is very similar to the std 941 pump, the 044 uses(at lockout) 18amps at 12 volts so less obviously with more voltage of around 12.8-13.4 that they normally run.
2mm thinwall is plenty, this carries 25 amps CONTINUOUSLY, you could use 3mm thinwall but this is roughly 50% more cost and it's not needed, this(3mm) will carry 33 amps continuously, 6mm is way ott, and serves no purpose other than emptying ones wallet quicker, as it's roughly 2 1/2 times the price of 2mm and not needed, it carries 50 amps continuously.
Don't forget a fuse right next to the battery as a certain persons supplied looms rather horrifyingly didn't have this, so a short on the run between the battery and the relay/pump could have destroyed your car by fire, it's a stupid schoolboy error, and not impressive.

Depends what type fuse you are using(some are rated blow rating others are rated continuous!!), assuming it is just the regular standard type blade fuse then a 20 amp will be fine, this has a fuse rating of 40 amps, the 20 is continuous on the blade fuses, the 20amp will be yellow in color.
Make sure the fuse holder is a decent one, as the snap in line type like the "scotchlock" type ones will melt carrying this current, so but a decent fuse holder, if doing a fan rewire at some time, but a 2 way blade fuse holder one from someone like www.carbuildersolutions.co.uk

Hi, cheers for that, I ordered a 4way fuse holder with the cable aswell so I can rewire my fans. As for the fans I got 2 kenlowe ones which came with a relay/controller was thinking using this with the probe which goes in the radiator fins and switches both fans, also has an overide facility. Do you think it's ok to use this system?

 

Yes the system works fine, you could have used a std fan switch to switch them/relays but so long as switched that's the main thing.
