Fiesta 1.4 16v bit of help advice please
Guys come in from work tonight after a bad bad day to be told my girlfriends up until now after 3 years bullet proof fiesta 1.4lx 2004 won't start? It's turning not kicking in? Tried a jump start no difference, it's dark just now any ideas on what to loOk for, will take to garage but no experience with this model just if there was anything obvious, it's totally standard car.
Thanks
Thanks
If it's turning over then the power is obviously there it's just not firing, first check when you turn the ignition on you should be able to hear the pump prime, thats a good path to start to determine whether you have fuel or not, you also need to make sure you have spark.
Is the immobiliser disarming ok?

Or fuel cut off switch (inertia),check that,it's in the footwell somewhere from memory,I've seen them go off from throwing a heavy object in that direction.
Otherwise, check fuses, tap the relays etc first then start looking into testing components.

Ok checked half the fuses before work this morning all ok, found the fuel cut I think is it like a 4 or 5 inches long with a rubber cover on top I pressed the top of it and there is a button or switch it popped in and never came out? The controls are digital in the car and there is one bar of fuel left, just in need to see if it is getting spark from the coil now! Question will a coil pAck from my mk1 focus rs fit it? Looks the same I'm sure?
Thanks need to get the torch out and get into it as only had 30mins at it before work

When my wifes coil pack was causing the misfire on it.I took my dads coil pack of his 1.6 16v focus and it worked on the fiesta.Have you not got a spare spark plug you can put in the end of the SP lead and then crank the engine to see if the plug is sparking.Make sure the plug is touching something metal.
Guys
Righto tried a plug lead there looks ok when cranking got a sort of shock through it i think lol Fek knows it's dark!
Took the right hand hose off that feeds fuel rail and petrol spouts out when cranking! All fuses fine, I changed a brake bulb on saturday and that was it, then now it doesn't start but got to be a coinsedence with that one, took spark plugs out for inspection re-dine still no joy I take it care would still stArt ok with air box etc off! Think I may need to to take it somewhere now :-(

It sounds like your inertia switch may have tripped then, pushing it in so it stays is right, on impact it will move out like how you found it.
Yes across the whole of the Ford range I think there are only a couple of variations of the coil pack so this should be fine!
It's not a good idea to start with the airbox dismantled!
With the spark plug grounded a spark should jump the gap between the body and the electrode, this is exactly the same as it will do in the engine to ignite the mixture, so by that I should think your coil pack is ok, you have established you have fuel at the rail so after trying to start are the plugs wet?

Yes plugs were wet when i took them out mate, it's a bit shit as I'm getting 30 mins in the dark to look at it, once I get to Friday I can spend a bit of time at it. I never put a plug in the end of lead just tried to hold it near strut top.
Thanks Again
Thanks Again
When in car trying to start the digital fuel display reads 2 bars in time then one the next dont know if it's a possibility of no fuel, reads ok but going to get a can of petrol and try it just incAse. This is doing my nut in now! The other half not having a car is a pain in my arse!!!!!
