Default 3.4 litres that all a 2wd takes?!?

standard engine with a standard sump, just seems very little to me, only registering at the bottom of the dip stick aswell...

Iirc its 5 litre capacity i used to fill with 4

If its only registering at the bottom then how do you know thats all it will take?

That may be sump capacity...you need to take into account oil filter, oilways etc. which would explain why it's not full...

yeah, I did leave it draining for a while!

so can anybody tell me how much they normally out it?

On a normal oil change 3.5 litres will take it to the full mark, purely sump wise 4 litres brings it level with the top of the sump shape, ie not yet overflowing onto/into the shallow pan forward of the sump.
I measured this when my sump was off, I'd guess no more than 0.2 litre in oil filter on top of that.

It's 3.5 WITH filter, 3.0 WITHOUT (6.0 and 5.3 pints respectively) as said, never fill it right up to the max I always go just below the max level on mine, IIRC the difference between the low mark and the high mark is around 1 litre. I still have my 5 litre can from when i changed mine and have used it for top ups ever since, it's only just empty now.
