friend of mine has a J reg fiesta automatic, problem is it keeps stalling at junctions or when she puts it into drive... you can hear the revs drop slightly or it will stall.
dont know anything about autos. any help would be appriciated for her. thanks

 

That will be a MK3, you need to know how the fuel is delivered in order to start fault finding, I.E is it CFI or EFI? That age I certainly don't think it will carb fed as the early MK3 were CFI.

In any case it sounds like the base idle may be to low hence not being able to substain an idle, however as I say you need to know the above in order to make a start.

its efi... shes just been to kwick fit with it and they have told her its leaking transmission fluid so the seals have gone and it will need a new cluch to solve the problem

 

Doubt that is causing the idle trouble though unless it has introduced an air leak or some description, don't see how they would know as auto transmissions are complex items and require and would be a job for a specialist, they do have several clutches I think so maybe thats what they meant? Even so don't see how they would know tbh. They arn't the sort of people to be dealing with either of these problems tbh imo.
