Default Bracket beneath master cylinder

Hi,

Whilst doing some work today, I noticed there is a bracket beneath the master cylinder that is fixed to the drivers inner wing, do I assume this is where the clutch and speedo cables are supposted to pass through? At the moment both cables pass through the bulkhead and go straight to there destinations? Other than that can't see what else this bracket would do? Have looked on another model (Non Cosworth) but that does not have it and the cables go straight down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Martin

Don't think so, I have an original heatshield which secures in just two places, a bolt on the bulkhead then there is another clip at the front which sits behind a stud on the drivers inner wing. ( I also pass my clutch cable through this)

Thanks,

Martin

It is indeed a heat shield bracket, mine has it also, there is a small clip on it into which the base of the heat shield fits.

Oh I see, it does have the little clip on it, so I presume you don't actually attach the heatshield to it, the base just rests onto it?

Also my clutch cable seems to run very near to the master cyliner so it touches the side, I run down next to the heastsheild, the through the clip that secures it against the stud and then across the engine crossmember etc?

Thanks for the help so far,

Martin

Another question, on the foot well heating there is ducting which goes to the back of the car and dissappears under the carpet, I have checked a non Ghia model and this does not have it, I know the Ghia had rear heating (Although I have never seen this) is this what this ducting is for?

The ducting comes back out of the carpet underneath the seat.
