Default Abs on S2 RST

Hi. Can anyone help. Rebuilding 1988 RST and wondering if all S2's have abs?
Can remember 14 years ago stripping the underneath and taking off the two spring loaded parts off rear beam between rear wheels (not sure what there called?)
Reason I ask is met guy today who has taken the abs off his G plate S2 to give better braking ?
Can anyone advise?
Thanks

remove them mate there wank.
did mine a little while back.
plenty of info on here about it.
if your not sure what they look like, look at the inner drive shafts.
theres belts going round em to 2 round modulators and loads pipework.
basically remove it all ,then run new brake lines from master cylinder to t pieces in inner wings and blank off reservoir pipes.
if you wanna do it,ill explain in more detail

the bits on the rear with springs are the load compensator valves mate.
you can leave them on if there workin ok,or remove and plumb in some inline bias valves.
mine were fine so i left em in

Am pretty sure that abs was standard on all s2's but if you have a standard ish s2 and not running over 170-180bhp i would keep it i have kept mine and mine is around 180bhp and i have just upgraded discs, calipers, brake pads, hoses and mine brakes ok, but with the abs removed it does brake better and you have better pedal feel

Thanks guys.
Just in process of getting all bits together before bare shell dip and full rebuild. Looking at full ap set up on front and rear disc set up at back. Been offered a brand new load compensator (thanks stevealien) today n don't know if I should of snapped his had off? Believe there now discontinued?
