Default you lot are all...........

.....a bloody bad influence!!

All these resto threads and engine conversions are tempting me to take out my block and make it quicker!!! Dilemas include - staying zvh or going full zt. Cams, turbos etc lol. Luckily I have the efi waiting.

If all parts are supplied (pistons/cams etc) - what are the likely labour costs for a refit of the block and head by an engine builder?

I would love to do it myself but don't want to run the risk of getting it wrong !

i have currently a zvh in my xr2 and it's great, big torque surge from low down.
but now it's coming out and getting sold on and a full zetec turbo engine going in with forged pistons, steel rods and area six cams.
i'm very skint at the moment
so your wallet is the main factor fella.

Indeed, which is why im most likely going to stay zvh and possibly get the head checked for spec (supposedly its worked?) and replace the cam.

I like the low down torque of the zvh, I drive it daily and mostly off boost and it feels alright

i only ran a ported head with new cam and followers with piper springs, timed up with a kent vernier and seemed well enough for me. i even had valve seats recut to make sure they sealed properly.
shame i don't have another car for the engine really, but all must go to pay for new parts
