gonna have to be a 2.0l zetec then.

Gonna have to spend some amount of money to get it past the 200 mark tho.

Although with a turbo you'd hit that mark easy, ppppssssssssssssstttttt umm I luv dump valves.

you'd be better off useing throttle bodys that carbs, looked into both the carb's have more restrictions and tend to act the goat and be a bastared to start.

It would be possible as long as you have got deep pockets.

You'll be lookin at new pistons, new injection stsyem, new ignition system, new exhausts including manifold, you'll have to fit pumps in the tank, get the head reworked.......and the list goes on.

you say you want to do something a bit different and special and that it MUST be normally aspirated so why not a st170 motor . O and does it have to be an engine produced by ford

no, no, no, no, no

what you REALLY want is a 1700cc puma vct lump, 130bhp and variable cam timing as standard, throw on a full exhaust and decent intake and theyre rumoured to get up around the 155bhp mark. build an EFI one, put one on tb's, whatever.. plus its probably lighter than the 2.0 so it wont feel like driving a loaded wheel barrow

also handy, pumaspeed.co.uk specialise in all things puma and fiesta (mainly mk4 on tho) but they could easily build you a 200+bhp 1.7 vct.

why bother with all the hassle of trying something new.

200hp from a rst engine has been done so many times and it will feel like a rocket in a mk2! plus there is always room for more tuning in the future if/when you get bored!

I'll have to agree on the zetec mate. They are readily available too. Just take a trip down the local scrapyard but if you don't mind taking a risk on if it runs or not you could pick up the whole engine with ECU and wiring loom for like Ł150. Thats wot i'm gonna do. or if u wana wait u can have my 1.9 cos i'm goin 4 a zetec as well mate. and like someone has said don't bother with the carbs cos they'll go outta sync and you'll have to get the bas***ds set up again. 2.0 Zetec all the way mate. Reliable 200bhp and no lag!

You'll need throttlebodies on a Puma or 2.0 Zetec. I'd go Zetec as it's already been done in a mk2 fez and you'll be able to use the same bits and experience as other peeps who have done it.

DMCL, the VCT is removed when the engine is seriously tuned because it hinders rather than helps. Pumabuild are doing one at the mo and using Omex management, jenvey throttlebodies and a mental big valve head.

Yeah Just like I said.......... Zetec all the way Baby

And Like XRscrewed said, there so readily avalable that you can pop them and just go and get another one (not speakin for experiance..............honestly)

But they will take a lot of Shit. (unless you remove the revlimiter.........whoopsey)
