Question can you remove saph pedal box in one piece?

Ive been pissing about replacing a clutch quadrant for a while now and after finally getting it all back together under the dashboard i discovered i had forgotten to attatch the spring on the clutch pedal, this cant be amended unless i take the whole lot apart again so im really not having a good time,
The whole lot has to come out again...

Is it possible for me to build it all outside of the car and stick it back in as a complete unit (the pedal box)

Someone suggested it before but there was absolutely no room to manouvre it in around the steering (shaft/column thing)

has anybody removed or installed a pedal box in a saph before and is it possible to do it as a complete unit?
Will it involve removing the steering shaft thingy which connects the steering wheel to the steering rack and how difficult will this be?

Yes its easy.

Take the lower dash section out, thre are 3 bolts into the bulkhead and one into the steering coloum iirc. No need to remove the steering column.

3 17mm nuts and one 13mm bolt tucked away that you have to look really hard for in the dark

but yes, once it's out (disconnect the brake rod) it's a 10 minute job on the bench

if you can loop a cable tie onto the spring you can pull it down and hook it onto the clutch pedal, it is a little bit tricky but it is possable. it might be worth a try befor taking out the pedal box

its just that i tried to fit it as a complete unit before but it just diddnt want to go around the steering column, ill give it another go though as it was a right pain in the arse trying to stick it all back together underneath the dash.

Last time i tried i think i still had the lower dash connected (its removed now so should give me a little more room)
