Didn't the Blue Norwegian Escort Cosworth have this and blow itself apart under high boost.

It did have one yes, reverted back to a magnesium rather than a pure carbon item. I don't think they held up well to high boost pressure on the seams.

I have a video somewhere of when it broke and from what I recall it just snapped in half, didn't look boost related though, just vibrations if you ask me.
Steveboyslim has some magnesium MIS inlets for sale.

That looks awesome but as above I dont think it would stand to constant vibration for long.

On the Gatebil DVD he's in the pits and you can clearly see him messing with the damaged inlet, He then changed the engine and then crashed the car.

Yeh, I've seen a video where he has pulled off the circuit, I think the bay may even be on fire and when its out there is a video of the bay and the inlet is hanging off, I am sure its broke at the flange iirc.
Edit !
plenum cover did split where its bolted in this video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hU3f...eature=related
I am sure I have seen another where it broke elsewhere but maybe I dreamt that

It apparently ruins throttle response, a EEC 4 inlet or one of these Hart inlets would be a better option IMO

The normal MIS is approx £2500 I believe, I'd imagine that carbon one is a LOT more but I wouldn't fancy finding it in 2 pieces

This was discussed on the Gatebil forum a while back, apparently not well liked, so forget it if running over 400bhp.
Better off try to source a genuine MIS manifold like the one's in the other thread...

Mine was a alloy one that I had wrapped but unfortunatly the poor quility welding split and I had to remove the carbon before I could get it repaired, shame really as it looked nice.

Which inlet gives the best throttle response then? Say for 380bhp? Eec4 inlets cost a fair £££ and a Swedish style would suit my future plans better re: space as it's forward facing not fed from below and to the side like hart or even STD. The carbon inlet looks SUPERB, if it's not too steep££ then maybe try it

Probably a standard 4x4 inlet for that power I hear
