Newbie with a 1:18 escort project...
As the title says, i'm new here, been browsing on here for a while, and decided to sign up!
I bought this off ebay and it came earlier this week, it is (was) a lovely model! as you can see from the pictures, it's very good where detail is concerned!

The engine bay...

But i'm not one to keep my models standard....
So about half an hour later....
It looked a little bit like this...

A little bit more power!

Since the pictures, the bonnet and doors have been nitromorsed!
I will update as and when!
Cheers!

Cheers for all the positive coments again lads!
Jason, your cars look awesome! Credit to you!
Slight update with this today....
It looked like this last night, only got round to nitromorsing the bonnet and doors....

I then tried some 3 door Cossy rims on it....but i think every widearch Escort deserves some wide minlites, so they shall be staying on it! The 3 door rims could come in handy with my next planned project...a mk3 Escort

Then came the serious part..... nitromorsing the body. Brought a tear to my eye in a way...

So after about an hour of soaking and washing off, it looked a bit like this(wheels are just resting against it as i had to go out for some things...see next pic for details
)...

So anyway, I went out, and came back with these....

Plan is - Dark grey body, with red suspension/strutbrace/cage etc...

Can anyone guess what the washers were for? Here's a clue...
Before...

And after...

Thats the stance sorted! Time to move onto the body work....but i couldn't resist chucking it together for a rough idea and a picture!
The door's aren't secured propperly, because as i said, this was just to get a rough idea for now!

And one last picture of how it sits now.... it's coming on good i think!

Job for tonight and tomorrow....get the body sanded down ready for primering!
Keep checking back for updates!

Right, here you go mate!
Start off by removing the two little screws either side of the engine...

and you should be left with this, after you remove it from the chassis...

simply remove the springs and the 'axle' from the posts, and add 3 little washers to each end, like so:

Then simply put the axle back on, followed by the springs, tighthen the screws, and you're done! and they're very discreet once fitted(i have only done one side in this picture)

Now for the back, same goes here as it did for the front... remove the two springs holding it in place :

so you're left with this...

now same as the front, add the washers, i only added two on each side, but it's upto you as to how many you fit.

simply do that, re-fit it to the chassis, and there you have it!
hope this helped mate, let me know if you get stuck on anything!

there'll be plenty more where this came from! maybe not frequently, but i'm going to build up a collection, i already have most of the parts i need for my mk3 escort when i get it, i don't wanna give too much away, but ....

As for the escort, not much done to that really, apart from it's ready to primer. Got my fingers crossed that it doesn't rain tomorrow, and that it's just slightly warm.
As i was raking around in my room, i came across this.. bought a few year ago DIRT cheap, and full of lovely parts to steal! So i stripped that...

...and seen as though i had the wheels off, it'd be rude not to...

I dug some stuff out from an old RS500 for the Escort too...

...and tried this...but i dont like it, so it'll not be staying!

That's all for now, might have some pictures by tomorrow if the weather stays on my side!

there was a few parts broke on it mate, so i raided it for spares.
i also got a nice minichamps rs500 sent off for me today, and had some extra birthday money left over, so i ordered a red mk3 1:18 escort convertible! They won't be getting left standard for long!
