100,000 mile Skoda VRS, yay or nay?
I appreciate that it is not a ford, but folks on here seem to rate these cars. I have been looking at a MK1 (05 plate) with decent history and seems cheap at £3000. Only weird thing (at least I thing it's odd) is that the bonnet stay is really rusty.
Anyway, am I asking for trouble with a car with these miles?
Cheers

as long as they have been looked after and serviced, they eat the miles. dicko on here had one that had done over 200k miles, and it was sweet as a nut. really like them personally, hell of a lot of car for the money
engine will be ok if serviced correctly, everything else will be as per any other 100k miler, so bushes, exhaust, bearings and ancilliaries will need looking at carefully.
Not bad cars IMO, not as well screwed together as the mk2 but should be fine as long as it has good history

I've had mine for over a year now and have clocked over 50,000 miles in one year and have not had any problems. Check the seals on the boost hoses sometimes these can disintegrate and leak oil from the boost pipes. Their great cars for commuting, just make sure it has all the relevant service history.
Yep as fiddy said we had a yellow one with 200k miles on lol still on original engine box and turbo it had just been looked after really well serviced every 6mth etc.

Just broke this silver one after having it for 1yr was a decent car and also had 140k miles on it.

Mines on 140k, bought it at 130k nearly two years ago to the day, with one owner from new, have replaced common things like the water pump, clutch pedal clip thing snapped, lower arm bushes, water temp sensor (IMO silly things) oh yeah and driveshaft as inner cv joint had gone - as long as well serviced and looked after mileage doesn't bother me, great cars
it's not depreciated either in that time, they still going for around the same money that paid for it

Mileage wise I wouldn't worry but the vag range do like regular servicing so a history is more important IMHO than miles.
100k should mean it's had the belt/tensioners etc done and probably waterpump etc so that could be a good thing really.
Just do the usual checks and a hpi at that price just incase its logbook loaned etc.

Mine has covered 65k and I've changed temp sensor, oxygen sensor, gearbox, clutch, lower front wishbones and about to do my first set of Tyres after 2.5 years. I service it every 10,000 miles and love driving it
Mileage used to control the price of these cars, so 150,000 miles should be under £2k no matter the year. Mine's an 03 plate, bought on 46,000 miles iirc and cost me £6.5k 2.5 years ago. It was the only low mileage car I found in black. I'm sure I could get £4000 or very close too if I put it up for sale, but I wouldn't sell it without regretting it

I don't like yellow cars particularly or skodas but that car above I somehow think looks the absolute bollocks,I love it!!!!!is it a new year thing perhaps???
How do these do on a run economy wise?are they 30plus with say 80-90 mph cruising?
I do about 200-250 miles to £40. I drive 3 miles, turn car off, drive 3 miles, turn car off, drive 3 miles, turn car off so car doesnt really get warm and rarely do long journeys.
These are apparently a lot better on fuel when remapped.
