Default best place to get an alternator quick!

the alternator on the mk1 fiesta has packed up and i need another one by new years

only just happened so havent looked about yet, but can anyone think of anywhere that are likely to be able to post one off the shelf within 4 days?

Also they usually do it on exchange, so best to take the old one off first then, you can check the one you are getting is the right one and not have to made a double trip

all closed was the problem, boxing day then bank holiday today.

went halfords and they had one on the shelf, service exchange 25 quid. not bad really :L

now that was cheap for halfrauds
they're usualy more than that for air freshner
will prob just have a A127 fitted which is a very simple cheap alt
but its still very reasonable for halfords(cheap anywhere never mind them robbers)

a127 is a piece of piss to rebuild
been doing them for years
can do 1 start to finish in 10-15 mins easy

if you think they're hard you should try some of the newer focus/modeo type stuff with the smart charge set up,
you need a special break out box just to bench test them,
the old a127's have been on the go since the 50's
in terms of alternators they ARE as simple and easy to build as they come

took it back as the shaft was to small to fit the olf propellor blade cooling thing so swapped it for one that came up for an xr2
fitted straight in and just done 100 miles and its fine
