Lee, the 182's handle nicely but the driving position is horrendous, the electrical gremlins spoil things, the fragile interior bits dont wear well and if you're really honest a 182bhp car would bore the arse off you! I'd much rather have the Octavia VRS personally.

At least the 182 is sporty, doesn't look too shabby either, bite the bullet and buy it,if it doesn't suit you then punt it on...........

MASSIVE LOL at all the people calling the clio shite!

I wonder how many people have owned one, (not my sisters friends, dog walkers brother had one)

I would not think twice about trading in a VRS for a 182!

The 182 is just a far better bar!

All this german build quality rubbish just makes me die!

Keep the 182 well serviced and it will Never let you down mate.

I loved my clio, it was the phaze 2 172 but really the same as the 182, nothing in it really , bloody loved the thing, never missed a beat.
What colour is the one u r lookin at

I would rather have the clio over a octavia RS IMO

Not bad on fuel either

They are about as quick as the Old shape civic type R. Ive kept up with many scoobys when rolling , alot of people unestimate the clio ( which i love )

My mother had one for 2 years from brand new, I had lots of opportunities to drive it and can honestly say I did not like it. She treated it like all her cars (very gently) and had nothing but problems with it.

Two of my close friends also had 172's, so i'm not just spouting random thoughts.

Each to their own but I'd have the Octavia, but that's just my opinion.

Had experience of the Clio (172 Cup) and the Octavia VRS and if it was my cash I would be keeping the Skoda. The Clio is a hoot to drive, cracking little handler and reasonably nippy. But the interior cabin is hideously plasticy, fuck me it makes my stripped out 20 year old Escort interior look refined. Also had a lot of issues with the stupid thing breaking engine mounts which the dealer was non to helpful about sorting.

If the Octavia is boring you get it remapped as it makes a big difference on these engines.

If i had to choose between the two, i'd take the 182 over having a dishwasher sat on the drive any day!

Get your Octavia remapped, meant to change how the car drives and improves it a lot

My mate has a 240 bhp octavia vrs, and it can keep with my escort to 125 if that was a Clio id have passed in and been off, but if you want something sharp to nip around in and play with bigger faster cars in corners Clio is great, just need some more power,

The area I live it half mile bursts so I'd have bigger more powerful car for day to day and having a play

About 6 months ago I moved on an A3 TDI Sport DSG with all the extras for a 2004 182 cup as I was simply bored of the Audi!

The Clio has been a great car and awesome to drive straight out of the box, the handling is very well matched to the power and will give you endless amounts of fun when driven properly.....

I'm moving mine on now as I want something a little bigger with a bit more luxury, if you can live with the French build quality you'll be very happy with one.....

renault build theyre cars with the expectation that a percentage will fail under warranty, they are not bothered about that, as they can cover the cost for three years of uk warranty, afte that most people will have changed for another new car to prevent them from having to pay out for repairs.

Renault mentality is very strange, the same goes for Citroen and Peugeot, all crap.

That's all very well, but the clio 182's are built by renaultsport, which are different to the normal Renault...

Ive got a octavia vrs tfsi and as an every day car its streets ahead of a clio to live with, decent boot, decent handling, 200bhp and very tuneable, and superbly built with fantastic dealers, but if i was after a weekend warrior or a track toy then the clio would easily win.

You do realise that Skoda won the last JD Power survey and the Octavia was 3rd for individual models?

Not sure where Renault was but it wasnt 1st, nor the Clio above 3rd

So yes IMO the Skoda is miles better made than the Clio
