We had the car looked at as it wasnt run right and it turns out its the ECU so i need to either get the one we have here fixed or try and find another ECU

Might be worth asking paulxr2 off xrtwo.com as he has broken one or two lately.

I wouldnt be too quick and blame the ecu as the EEC4 unit is pretty robust.
What are the symptom of the problem ?

The car wouldnt start run properly we had it on a compture and that didnt show up anything, it turned out the ECU had some bad earths inside it i belive so they was repaired and the car was fine for a week or so and now it will cut out and then just re start we have been told its a ECU fault

If someone has been inside the ecu then it is probably dead..now !

Its unusual for them just to fail as they more liekly get confused with the wrong information when there are loom or sensor faults.

If you send it away for repair make sure you get a quote first.
I suspect. you will repair or replace it only to find the fault still exists or reappears.

Good luck

Thanks for the info, we have had a compture on the car which didnt show up any sensor faults so thats why we reckon it could possible be the ECU

unlucky... that is a rare ecu, can be found in mk5b 130 spec cabs/orions and xr3is though... careful with xr3is as they tended to have been early built and on non pats

oh the other option is you could disable the pats (i assume you have a proper alarm an immobaliser) its a case of changing a few wires round at the ecu plug and you can use a pre pats ecu which are much much more common

ahh shite forgot about EDIS
to do the above you'd have to wire in an EDIS module as well which is a bit more work, but realistically you could sort it with a Ł15 ecu and an edis module and a bit of wiring

JDmsport (CRSpares@aol.com) almost always has xr3i 130 parts in stock drop him an email

Bri,

my mate knows a electronics genius who works for the raf fixing the plane ecu's and stuff,he does a nice sideling in car ecus and they tell me theres so many ecu's that come in with damp in them, they dry loads out and they work fine again when tested so its worth checking its bone dry first which will cost you zero.

also i know camco 88 who can fix ecu's and unlock them, they used to tune escort and fiestas once although now concentrate on just ecus.
