Default Head Fitment Guide Lost Down Channel RS Turbo

Hi guys, went to fit head today removed for to check if warped or not before doing so and 'you wont believe my luck' the small circle guide thing that goes on bolt hole to align has fallen down channel possibly water? diagonal next to bolt hole where it meant to go. I nearly managed to get it back out but it dropped and now has lost sight altogether. I removed sump hoping it had fell in here but to no avail so remvoing bottom end tomorrow to get a good look around to find it, any hints at how to find/ retrieve it or where it could be, problem after problem with this

if its fallen into the water jacket then leave it , will do no harm

or take off water pump and try air line from other end of head , in thermostat housing hole

or take engine out and turn upside down , defo get it then

my option would be 1st one

i wouldnt leave it there as u have a water pump impeller thats sits in the side of the block, last thing u want is it smashin your water pump, dont need to explain consequence of that, telescopic magnet is the way forward! As said

Unless it fell right at the front of cylinder 1, then it can't access the water pump, the water channels around each bore are way too thin, I've had to fish core plugs out of blocks before now and they are too thick to pass through the gap so a dowel has no chance, if you can get it out, if not don't worry unless in the position I said but a bit of fiddling should soon have it out.

I dont think it is water jacket, I think it may do with oil? there is 3 identical sized hole along inlet side of blobk 2 go straight threw to sump wish it had fell thre one of these but it fell threw the 3rd which seems to have a bit of black plastic on gearbox side dunno if this removable? Will get a better look when block out got halfway today and got to cold to lying on drive pml
