Default lowmans new car.sierra cosworth 4x4 sapphire restoration.01.02.2011MASSIVE PIC UPDATE

hey people.

now im back with a new car ,after beeing without a cossi for over a year and a half

ive got myself a 1990reg ford sierra cosworth.its a moondust silver car,and im the 5th owner.it was sold new in norway and has a full service booklet, and has never been tuned,or it has a live map in it ,stage one,but thats been in the car just for the last 5 years or so..approx.so the car is almost untouched.

my plan with the car is to restore it.it does have some rust under it,but that is going to be sorted.together with a full respray inside and out
first off is a minor engine bay clean up,,and change the headgasket as it is blown.
and while im at it i do look for stuff that needs to be done, parts that i need and stuff..but i do the headgasket first so i can get the car driveable as soon as possible,as i do not have a place to keep the car when im restoring it.

so first off...engine bay clean up,then its of to the body shop where i work to get the underside rust sorted, then its off to the garage where im going to dimantle the car for the resto..

here are some pics of what i have done to it up til today

cheeers

og her var det godnatta bilde..da var det sent og orka ikke en ting mer

That looks to be a very clean example. Id recommend keeping it standard as this will make more unique than the ones that people modify. At least with the headgasket blown you can have a right good look around the engine and make sure everything is perfect.

cheers mate

yeah and that is my plan aswelli will keep it standard

the only mods im gonna do to the car is mods that can easily be undone in a way, as different wheels, maybe different brakes and suspension.but otherwise i want to keep it standard and restore all the original parts for it.

i have my local ford dealer on the hunt for new standard parts...not easy getting hold of parts these days

Loved your old car - sad that it had to go at the time - congrats on the new one. I still remember the photo of you lying on the ground all tuckered out.

Welcome back mate

hey mate
hehehe so you remember the nackered lowman.hehe

cheers.

thanx for kind comments both on my old escort...and my new car.
guess its not of the same intrests on people..since its the most common cosworth out there..but hopefully its coming together real nicely in the end with some nice touches though i am keeping it standard...as i think the standard ones are the ones that will become collector cars.not the 20 owner tuned to pieces car that you see around very often

but yeah...cheers for comments

more updates coming pretty soon

hey people

the chassis leg is an oe chassis leg.from an independent company..dont know what to call it in english.
its available all over norway.the fitment wasnt that easy..as the sides are to wide..and needed to be modified abit.but the end result was pretty good i think

next up is to fix the rot in the floor in the front where the jack is supposed to go into the chassis.
trying to sort out a complete front floor section.that would be the best..so im hoping to find a usable one pretty soon

cheers people

with the rot.it is always ten times worse than you think, before you start.i did not expect it to be that much either.but as soon as i started cleaning it underneath..and sandblasting stuff..it became apparent.and i think there are a lot of cossies that are worse than their owners think.
i was initially just going to repair the chassis leg...but i soon found out that i had to replace it to make it mint.and so i did
