Nice to see the Cossie suffers just like the 'mortal' MK5 Escorts
Why shouldn't it be fixed? If you have the welding skills, there's no reason it can't be repaired if it's done right. If it wasn't for people doing this kind of thing, there'd barely be any classic cars left

As a lot of Escort Cosworths approach 20 years old; there is no doubt that they will become a classic car, just as the original Sierra Cosworth and RS Turbo has. And obviously the MK1/2 Escorts and the cars of that era have too. I'm sure that at the beginning of the 90s, most peope thought the MK1/2 were throw away cars, an awful lot were used as banger racers or just thrown away. I wonder how many of those that did that regret it now after seeing current prices!
But, that isn't the point. I merely said there is nothing wrong with repairing rust on a car if it's done to a good standard, regardless of classic status or not. If people didn't repair rust, the number of E-Types would be vastly reduced, would it not?

You guys may think i'm a wind up merchant and call me names but i have scrapped and crushed much better cars than which is in the OP's pics, some of you would be mortified if you saw what i crushed a couple of weeks ago a 1984 XR4i with just 48000 miles on it, obviously i sold the running gear for kit car use but what is the point of putting these cars back on the road? i had a guy pleading for me to sell the car to him but whats it worth? probably not much more than i broke it up for.

To some people, a car's value is about more than just money. It does make me laugh when people say what rotboxes Fords are. Like other cars from this era were much better

Yeah, but each to their own fella, that's why this site exists.back in the day (mid nineties) I was breaking rst and cossies because people couldn't insure them and wanted to put the bits in lesser models to insure them.
I scrapped a perfectly good s1 rst, nothing wrong with it,at least 6 or 7 rst s2's I scrapped when now their fetching £2-3k for nothing special.
Personally I like the e type jag but fuck me there's some rubbish out there disguised as a "classic" car, moggie minors, mgb gt,midgets, maxis, allegros the type of shit that should have been scrapped 30 years ago!!!!
heres the point about old car most diss them and kill em so they become rare and then you think shit should have saved that one my mg was from 1967 had it as a every day car for 6 years class pice of kit got to rusty so i sold it to a pro to keep going point is in its day it was like the mr2 of its time but we can be glad some people seen a classic then and now and keeped em going wot a drive some old kit can be its all noise engine roar and smell and seat of the pants driving new stuff can be too refined and dull
Are you kidding?? there's some numpty on this forum who is advertising a MK2 escort for 27.5k so whats that if it isnt all about money 'you plum' i value that car (taking into account all the aluminium parts) at around £250 weigh in.

which a 27k car certainly isnt.
if you think 27k for an escort is excessive, best not look at RS500 prices then

by the way you look at it.. even brand new cars are only worth about the £250 weigh in price, then?
PS: an RS200 to you, being kevlar etc, would be worth about £50!?
cos noone would really want the parts if you broke it, so in your eyes, it'd be worthless??
strange how the last one i saw for sale was nearer 100....... thousand lol

I love everyone's response to a 16 year old ford escort!
It seems they think its immune to rust as it has 'cosworth' in the name.
if it was a 1.4L it would've been shunned long ago, with valid reason it is argue'd. but they're still the same metal...
