What is the subject of the site, is it a 'hobby' site or business critical, why do you need to use Flash?

Just find a site from a totally unrelated industry so no one will make the connection that you like, and just blatantly nick as much of the design as is humanly possible

Id be heading in the Macromedia direction.....

Ive built a web site before and used a combination of Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash MX, and Director. To be honest i only used cracked trial versions or demos of each program but they were superb. Quite easy to use and using all of them produced really good effects.

Theres alot of things to consider when making a website though as im sure u'll find out, but i found it quite straight forward when using the above.

In that case, I'd possibly steer him away from Flash and eye candy, as unless it actually serves a real beneficial purpose, it just frustrates users - especially so with business sites. And, if you haven't used Flash before, you have a steep learning curve ahead of you......

The Macromedia range is THE best suite of products for Web Development, period. BUT, there's more to building a web site than dropping and dragging stuff into DW's design mode window. Give me a spray gun and I'll paint your car, but I don't know how well it would turn out......

Usability issues, business strategy, goals of the site, ROI etc..

Does your friend actually know what he wants and why he wants it, or is it a case of the blind leading the blind (no offense intended!) as if it is, it will end up going the way of Pete Tong.

If you don't want to put any details on here, feel free to PM me and I'll give you what advice i can.
