Default How many miles from new turbo?

As title, how many miles would you expect to get from a new t34 turbo or similar before it needs a re build? just re built mine after 12,000 reasonably hard miles running 1.1 bar boost.

I wouldnt be impressed with that tbh .My crabby standard T3 has done more miles than that at 1.6bar and its still perfectly fine .

Cool, i just wanted to get an idea, it has a t3 cartridge so i wonder if t34s last a little less as they are under more stress having a bigger rotating mass? The t3 internals are much lighter i think. I used to drive the car flat out for 10 miles to pick my ex up, and then flat out back on some country roads almost daily, as well as all the usual running around,(mostly on country roads and hard!)

I dont know a great deal about turbos but I would hope it lasted a lot longer than that especially running such low boost.Dosnt seem right to me tbh,as long as you cool it down after you have kicked its head in that is

1.1 bar is not high at all, should last loads longer all being well.
The T3 and T34 core/bearing housing are 100% identical.
I ran 18 psi for well over 40,000 miles and show no signs of undue wear, on a T3-34

it was also worth pointing out only ONE bearing was worn, the exhaust side, maybe due to not spooling the turbo down after hard use? or maybe egt's were too high effectivly cooking the oil on that side. Its fixed now and swapped for some nice big injectors lol

My mate ran his T34.55 peaking at 30psi for probably 20k, the car was then sold and its still going strong. Infact the turbo wasn't new when he got it as the engine was built for the previous owner by SCS so it had seen some use before he owned it, just not as much track use which is what he mainly used it for.

Yes it was and still is.

Such a good engine that one, not mega power by todays standards but just takes all the abuse you give it
