Hi all,

My 2003 1.8 TDCI Estate is refusing to start, Having replaced fuel filter, crank and cam sensors, and fitted a new battery the car still just turns over and refuses to start. Did the old dash trick and the only code logged was for a low battery due to tiring it out cranking it over. Tried tow starting and after 3 miles at varying speeds between 10 and 40mph and still no joy. Fuel filter is full and no signs of damaged pipes. The immobilizer light goes out when ignition is turned and i have scratched all the hair off my head with confusion.

Has anyone had a similar problem? The car has done 110K miles and has a full ford dealer history. It has never been in an accident but am wondering if this has a emergency fuel cut off switch, Have removed the kick panels in footwells but no sign of one..

Hi, on the 2003 you hold the trip reset button and turn ignition on (No need to start engine) Hold it for approx 5 secs and let go, the needles will do a full sweep and test will be displayed, each time you press the reset button it will show new information, eventually it will flash dtc then the next set of codes, if any will be the dtc codes. Its pretty crude and nowhere as good as an obd2 reader but can be useful.

hi,ive just had the same problem on my x reg tddi,it turned out it was my fuel pump.

 

i have just had this with my 2003 focus tdci.i messed around and bought a code reader read the codes and came up with injection pump/ injectors/fuel rail pressure to low or high on cranking...i changed the pump as i was advised it was this ,,still the same ???? it turned out to be the injectors leaking back to mutch fuel....fit the re conditioned injectors and it fired streight up...

hi i think it is something to do with the valve on top of the inlet manifold that operates the turbo/or has something to do with the turbo.i am going to see if ford do a wireing plug kit for it...and try that
