Default Changing steering colunm?

I need to change mine as all the plactic bearings/springs have all come out of place.
Can i keep my key barrel and swap it onto the new one?
How do i do it if so?
Dash is all stripped at the mo anyway so easy to get to!

Cheers

The nylon bushes and springs are replaceable. You don't need to replace the column itself.

The column had collapsed tho, every time you turn the wheel it "clunks" up and down, will replacing the bushes solve this?

its clonking around because the plastic bush has come out of the bottom of the column, pushed out by the spring, that wud be my diagnosis

once the locator on the bush in the column has worn off, the spring just pushes it clean out, right bitch

new pair of bushes and job done, cheap fix

The barrel is part of the outer column - no part of this wears, it just houses the bushes.

dont buy them on ebay, some joker off here buys them for a few quid from ford, then sells them for like 20quid or sumthin daft on there!

ford still do both plastic bushes for the bottom, and the little white bush for the top of the column, plus the little bearing. think the whole lot costs about 8quid, i will try and find my receipts out and get the finis codes

easy enough to fit, just have to drop the column out so u can slide the bottom bush on, then fit the spring and the bush with the locator next (easier out of the car so u can get it located perfectly and tight so the spring is held n dont fire out), then slide it all back together. i might even have an exploded view ford diagram of it to make it all clear, leave that with me too
