Default 1982 mk1 sierra track car. WRC

Welcome to my project thread.

This my track car.
The spec should be;
200 bhp pinto,
330mm front brakes with ap 4 pots
909 coilovers,
rose jointed rear beam,
17" imolas with kuhmo rally tyres (not road legal),
roll cage,
Cobra monaco buckets with harnesses,
fully stripped out no sunroof base model shell,
polycarb windows etc. etc.
However, money is tight due to a lack of work so the cage, coilovers and beam are up for sale. But the car is booked on at oulton park on the 6th of november so it will be done one way or the other.
I will be getting on with it this week.

Well, i have been down to my mates today to make a start on finally getting the car ready for oulton park next saturday.

Here she is on the ramp.

Xr4x4 rear beam with solid beam mounts.
Front brakes using 4 pot AP's/focus rs discs
From this

To this

Side by side

Also with a bit of these

Should stop a bit better now

17's only from now on!

And the heart of the beast.

Been down the unit for a few hours this evening. Tapped the ap's to accept standard sierra fitment brake lines, fitted a treat! Then had a go at the bleed nipples, both sheared off on one caliper! So more work required.
Granada cos hubs, and yellowstuff pads are on route, so moving a bit forward, a bit back.
Sussed out the throttle cable for the bike carbs, as the one fitted to the engine was from a capri, and the sierra pinto one is too short. Sierra v6 is plenty long enough, but means swapping accelerator pedal to suit.

The car is back home now. Not much has changed, but, weather permitting, i will be getting a few days on it and it should be done. Then there will be a fudgepacker style m.o.t. thread!

Well not a lot has changed with this, but i have some repair panels arriving thursday, the hubs will be sorted tomorrow, and the brackets for the ap's sorted by the end of the week, then its m.o.t. time.
I have owned this car for approx 2 years and have only driven it 500 yds!

Cool car, the "y" reg mk1's seem to hold up the best rot wise.

This one is quite tidy. It`s had a couple off small patches here and there.Generally not bad for an old rally car that gets abused!! Actually it`s had more different engines than patches so it`s doing well !

I have an rs2000 i4 on bike carbs to go in this when the pinto gets put in my escort, but i may be buying an xr4x4 with a yb in that may find its way into WRC.
I'm still having issues getting 4 stud stub axles to fit my granada cos hubs!

I bought them from a bike breakers and had my local rally fabricator weld some stubs on to the alloy spacer that comes with the rs2000 inlet. Also got megajolt to sort out the sparks.

Brigsport could you please show me a picture of the inlet manifold for the i4 2000 so I can see if it is similar to my 2300 i4? I think the 2300 has a different waterway location for the thermostat.
