Default sapphire cosworth help needed

hi guys
ive found a sapphire cosworth for sale in crystal blue f reg, its been lowered and sits on 17's. ive been told that its had a bottom end rebuild (but this is not the orignal engine) i also belive that its a 205 block. its got a little bit of crust on the rear arch and on both driver side doors just below the window rubber about 40mm long, some service history, orignal panels with stamps and near mint cloth seats and he wants £4995.

so what i really want to know is, is this worth the money.
also as i know hardly anything about these cars is there anyone that livesin/ near to horsham that knows something about them could take a look at it for me and give me there view as i dont really want to be ripped off

many thanks

From own experiences and things I've heard, you should watch our real good when buying one. In the end it always comes down to the fact that you have to do lots of things to a cos before it's the way you want it.

I think you should go for a cheaper one, with a good shell and not to much miles. If there are no receipts for a recently engine rebuild, then I think I wouldn't trust it.

Good luck m8.

As snakey says search around for something else tbh I wish I had looked around a bit more and been willing to pay that little bit more for a minter.

that sounds very expensive to me. i would only pay that much for a mint one, or a high engine spec one.

I bought mine for around 3000. Did 13000 miles in 8 months. Must have spent nearly 2k on servicing and mot saying that its only let me down once (coil) The old saying- you get what you pay for. just try and look at loads, even if they are well out of your price range. You will get to know what to look for. Good luck mate, you will need it!!

if you want to buy in the trade your going to pay more and not certain to find a better car for it, owner numbers should not be a concern if the car is uptogether ect mine has 8 previous owners and ive owned it over 2years with all the things wrong with it being down to old age or interesting driving lol.

if you set yourself a budget of say 5 grand you will find a lovely motor i guarantee it.............

Mine had 9 previous owners, was an HPI listed write off and the V5 wasn't in the name of the person I bought it off.

Despite all this the car turned out to be a good un

I looked for 6 months for mine and saw many a bad car.... Eventually found one that had been owned by the same chap for 10 years previous... Went to his house & thought 'oh my god' - it was like a building site!!! Went up to his garage & it was bigger than his house (3 cars) * decorated/warm!!!...

Had it for 1&1/2 years now and it has never let me down... Driven it every day, babied it - loved the car but i am selling it now due to buying a house...

Sorry for the blatent plug but.... If u are interested, 89 2wd sapphire, flint, very straight, original condition, stage 1, spotless inside, FSH, triple immob/full closure, etched glass, kept in heated garage, 105K.... Had everything its ever wanted... never revved it above 6K (no need), always warmed/cooled... £4500 but am very negotiable!! in Nottingham

Want it to go to a good home!! Definitely worth a look if u are serious....

Also, just read.... I am selling the car privately as it is mine but my father buys & sells cars for a firm of solicitors in Notts & i am letting him deal with it (he will put it in autotrader possibly) but the point is, he will take PX's... just a thought!!
