Default if i RWD convert my scooby will it "feel" like a cossie ?

may sound stupid so lets look at it another way

can you tell the difference in power/feeling/handling between a rwd and a 4x4 cossie

gearbox is apart and its just a case of welding a centre diff SOOO,,,, now i LOVE the way my impreza drives BUT i miss that cossie grunt/kick in the back so wondering would that help

No, it will handle a lot better. The Scooby is a lot lighter, more nimble, and better balanced. There is so much more affordable aftermarket suspension parts availible, which will make it better again, but why would you want to remove the 4wd. It you want it too steer from the rear, get it set up properly, and fit a 24mm adjustable rear ARB, and the anti lift kit from whiteline.

Well my mate had one with 280hp, he did the BDC with it.

Drives NOTHING like a Sierra though, ran a welded diff, was ever so lively, needed more lock though.

Its this car, he also does the ESL ecu boards if you know of them.

i already have the full works of whiteline along with HKS hypermax 3 coilovers and everything else you could do to the suspension

i love the way it handles,,,, dont wanna affect that if im honest but the power seems too low for me if that makes sence and not sure if its the 4wd or just that is fucking slow to start with

i miss the feel of a stage 3 cossie running a T34 and 28psi of boost

My mates like that with his impreza. He has had it 6 months and spent a fortune on it. He has gone through 3 gearboxes 1 turbo n now his engine is nackered. He is thinking about getting rid of it. He is scared to drive it now.

That drifting looks so extreme that the passenger can casually hang his arm out the window. Fook it off and buy a cossie. Simple, raw, agression.

Ginge, bin the OE dump valve, it'll chatter. My mate had a 380bhp Scoob, with a TD06, and that gave the shove in the back you are talking about.

When you say it's a lot lighter than a rwd Cosworth, what Subaru Impreza Turbo are you starting with.
I can understand you are removing a couple of driveshafts and a front diff but how much weight is that taking away?

The reason I wondered is that my friend's 98 MY Turbo was nearly 70kg heavier than my 2wd Sapphire on the local weighbridge?

cant remove the front diff as thats part of the gearbox like a porsche gearbox if that makes sence

aint sure if its lighter or not,,, aint bothered as im a fat cunt anyway so pointless me worrying about that part of it

dont wanna do driifting either as i like the way the car drives though been told the DCCD makes it 90 times better to drive so was thinking would RWD make it perfect or,,, will it be like a 400bhp erst and make a fun car a pile of shite ?

jap cars are lighter as they have alloy bonnets, the rear seat is just cloth and foam and it dont have the folding function oh and they dont have a fog lamp too and smaller plates

also my STI has alloy bumper "irons" wheres the UK one i took the bumper from had a rusty as fuck steel one that weighed more than vanesssa felps starter and side salad course so they are lighter and also they aint undersealed unless someone gets it done when imported

I was under the impression both cars weigh around the 1250kg mark so I don't understand the "a lot lighter" comment either

Ah, I see - his was a standard Uk one so that would explain the extra weight

No big stereo either!

mate one thing i DONT Want it to do is handle like a cossie,,,,,,, as for a cossie running on 3,,,,,, isnt that what most cossies do anyway aswell as the slappy diesel engine banging on the cold winters mornings

i just wanna know if the power is noticable and will it kill my scoobys handling as in do 4wd cossies noticably handle better than the Mens version ?

Ginge, my mate did it with a std UK bottom end. Not as good as the V3 STi you have.

He had, and ARC FMIC, 550cc injectors, TD06, Gruppe M headers, GEMS ecu with als and l/c, and a magnex exhaust and decats.

Went really well!

LOL. Nope, im still Peter Pan, but i am almsot 26 now

i cant warrant the cost of a MK2 FRS and the way they are depricating, so ive gone for a MK1 as i regret selling mine.
Escort shell and many interior parts are still with me and its going RWD and decent power in spring

also looking at new shape Discoverys, so i guess i am maybe becoming a bit old in my ways now

ill keep you posted on the Ring, just dont smack me around the head or ill refuse the passenger seat to you and take Chip out instead

a mate of mine bought a focus RS that looked a spitting image of yours but dont have the brakes and has the standard focus wheels painted,,,,, i agree you was silly to sell your "runabout"

my mate RWD converted his and welded up the rear diff.

he says it's the only car that puts a smile on his face when he drives it.

but it's because it spins the tyres all over the place, slides round corners and is generally 'twitchy'

you'll lose the handling straight away, those japs designed it to be 4wd, and converting it is just going to seriously unbalance it.

2wd cossie will piss all over it.

to convert it you need to remove the prop, the back nose cone from the box, remove the central diff carrier, remove the spider gears, mig the diff back up and re-assemble.

I think about it every day Kelv, just havent got the guts tbh. I would want a 3dr for track/drifting as the Esc Cos is just too expensive for it with current spec, so a nice stripped 3dr with 330-350bhp would be perfect
