Default just got in from the hospital

My 6yr old son Alfie fell off a wall at school on thursday,
my mrs collected him after the school called her.

he seemed fine but was sent home as a precaution.
he has been fine, laughing and joking but I noticed he hasnt been using his left arm much.

I took him to A&E this morning where he had an X-Ray which shows he has broke his wrist
and is now in cast.
its not too bad and the bone is still straight but i feel absolutely horrible for not taking him sooner.

Even the nurse was suprised that he wasnt complaining too much about the pain.

Alfie thinks its great with his cast on now but i just cant help feeling really shitty about it as we should have taken him staright to the hospital when it happend.

He has to go back to the fracture clinic next week and get the plaster cast swapped for a fibre glass cast.

not a good day so far!

Sounds like he's a tough little lad! Don't beat yourself up about it. You've done the right thing and weren't to know it was broken!

Main thing is during this time he was not in any pain. You did what most other people would do. As dan says seems like a tough cookie.

Best get him patrolling the streets beating up chavs!

I broke my arm when I was about that age, and I didn't feel a thing, was only when a teacher saw that my arm had '2' elbows that I went to hospital! the teacher was almost sick when she saw my arm bending like it did!

Your lad most prob did not feel too much was wrong, and as you say, he's chipper about it

Yeah, dont worry about that, quite often it doesn't hurt as bad if its broken as when it's sprained or badly gashed surprisingly.

I think with kids,a lot of it's to do with visual injuries,I'd guarantee you that if he'd had a big gash in his arm with blood pouring out, that would seem far worse to him as he can see what's happened.as carling said in the film "scum"
"that's phychology that is"

Glad he's ok now,a career in special forces awaits!!!
