Since we weren't given the option of voicing our opinion before they were taken away, here is the opportunity to do so.. feel free to post and back up your selection with reasons etc.

I want them back because they were hilarious and according to a man on the inside, they didn't even require much in the way of moderating.... however, we have an offer from Si B that he is more than happy to look after the Tag part of the forum.

I've voted YES!! Some were pure comedy genius and in a good way. It'd be mucho better to have the roll over option though, to stop the cowardly spiteful peeps.....

I was also gonna go with the roll over option, but, according to a current mod they don't receive many complaints about tags... and there is potential for dedicated Tag Police ( ) so if we leave them anonymous then I'm sure people will be more likely to leave the semi-insulting but hilarious ones than they would if they could be publically identified by a roll over??

It seems to have worked so far and IMO is one of the best bits of browsing a forum so don't want them gone completely.

Voted for Tags on the rollover option, and as you said, more than happy to moderate the tags if that's all that's needed to keep them inline.

Funny tags are just that, and should stay. Offensive ones don't have a place in a friendly forum like this, and should be deleted if someone has a reasonable request to do so, or if it's obviously inappropriate (racist etc)...

Given thats it already been proven 100% that they arent acceptable to the forum admin when they are anonymous, I think this thread should have just been about if you want them back under different circumstances (ie with the hover) or if you prefer them gone as it seems pointless to vote for something that has already been trialled and proved not to work acceptable due to anonymous abuse?

 

Sometimes when a tag is posted it isn't offensive but you DO wanna see who left it, only so you can retaliate like. In the past when I've asked Mark he says he can't disclose but has left cryptic clues!

As long as if you ask you're told, then I'm happy for them to be anonymous.

I see what you're saying, I agree and I disagree... yes it is potentially pointless to have the three options, but the aim is to show that people want them back under any circumstance or not at all, then if/when the admin realise this then they can see a black and white split between yes/no.

If I'd just put the two options, then people might not have been keen to vote for the roll over option and moved on without casting a vote. Therefore the results wouldn't have shown how much people actually missed the tags, and the thread would likely have been full of "never voted, but I'd have them back anonymously" type comments so the numbers in the poll wouldn't have reflected the true feeling.

Well it certainly looks so far that most people want them there one way or another, so hopefully that will be enough to get them back on trial with the hover or something rather than them simply be gone completely.

if people dont want to know who has left them, then I dont see what difference it makes to them if there is a rollover or not, as they can simply choose not to use it!

 

I think its more of the feeling that people will be reluctant to leave the ones which are a little borderline but hilarious if they can be revealed by a wee scroll of the mouse... but I agree that having tags is better than not having tags, so would also welcome the roll over option if thats all we're offered.

All the good threads soon reach their tag limit anyway, so if a few people arent brave enough to tag with their name shown it will just give others a chance anyway

I honestly haven't seen anything worse than what you would hear people say in a pub if someone is acting a tit....rascism is bang out, but everything else is fair game.

If they go rollover, i think i'll actually step my game up and be MORE offensive.


I've never, ever, left a tag out of spite. But i do notice some people who've been "victim" to them. Keep banging on about-cowards, spite, nasty and so on. Balls, change the record. The odd one maybe, but nearly always they are just plain old funny!

They are a good indication of if you're being a bit of a flid or not.

For me with some goms, i do find it funny, i know other people find it funny and it's easier to stick one on and laugh than have to have some drawn out mongy bitchfest with someone. And it's even funnier when people quote them pissing themselves.
