What should the oil pressure be at idle on a 4x4 saff? Just put an oil pressure gauge in and it reads 60 psi or so at idle. Is this about right? Haven't been out in it since I fitted it, just started the car to make sure everything worked ok.

Well, just been out for a run and the pressure at idle seems to stay at a constant 30psi. That seems to be a better figure than before.
What do other peoples run at? Just so I can get an idea as to whether my engine is still all ok

If its any help, mines about 60psi when i first start as well, but i would like to know a few figures, and does it drop for any reason

 

I assume it drops when the engine oil gets warm, dunno though so any help would be appreciated

phew...mine was about 30 at idle earlier once it had warmed up...i was begining to worry

 

According to fords own workshop manuals minimum oil pressure at 850 rpm should be 1.8 bar or 27 psi, and at 2000 rpm should be 2.4 bar or 37 psi, From cold my own car shows around 80 psi on start up , dropping back to 50 psi when she's warmed up, idle pressure though is rather low at about 20 psi but this is probably due to the cars age and the fact that it has 130,000 miles under its tyres, its worth mentioning though that aftermarket gauges can be notoriously unreliable , especially if its accurate figures your after

 

Plater, is the hose for your boost guage t'd off the MAP sensor hose?

 

I got told 25psi when warm

 

Yes it is. That way the boost showing on the in-car gauge is the same as the boost the map sensor reads. The Air charge temperature sensor is also located in the same area so both the boost hose and the charge air cable are run together, up along the back of the rocker box and routed into the cabin through the existing speedo cable grommet behind the fuse box

 

Been out and thraped the cossie to within an inch of its life today which was muchos fun!! When fully warmed up, the oil pressure is down to about 25psi - 30psi. I'm assuming this is OK following on from the feedback so if anyone else is wondering what is should be, now you know
