Default soft cut and hard cut limiters

what is the differance between a soft cut and a hard cut limiter and what advantages do they have over each other?

and could someone explain how they work, do they limit fuel, spark, both or what?

soft cut means when you hit the limiter you get that ba ba ba ba ba noise as the engine revs up and down
hard cut means you hit the limiter and if your not wearing a seatbelt your going through the windscreen lol!

Ecu dependant, soft cut normally uses a combination of ignition retard and spark cut, although this does reduce power it is possible to drive and over rev.
Hard cut is usually all fuel and sparks stop.

that video made me lol!
and i think i understand. was just wondering, as the 24v stutters on its limiter, eg it revs up then goes bu bu bu bu bu makes a few pops and bangs.
the rx7, and the 2.0 zetec get to 9K and in the zetecs case 7K and dont stutter they hold the rpm, its hard to describe really, they dont stutter, they are revving up cleanly then its sounds like they get fuel cut. but still spark.
