Default Any Vauxhall Techs in the house

sisters car

2004 (04) plate Astra SRI 1.8; pretty sure its an immobilizer problem.

turn ignition on, the symbol of the car&spanner (yellow) continuously flash; nothing happens, doesnt even crank.

tried the spare key and the same problem; i think the key fobs have lost their code?

anything i can try and do?

cheers
matt

i thought that might be the case; but i really dont want her to take it to "main stealers"!

as its immobilizer i think it will be the only option

the old vauxhalls you could reprogramme the key fobs by following a sequence but not sure you can do it on hers

Main dealers I'm afraid mate, they shouldn't charge much as it's only a 2minute job to program the transponders and immobiliser.

But saying that I can't remember of the top of my head if that astra will require it but vauxhall bought out a software update for the cim module to stop it causing this fault.

No worries mate.something to try tho to get it running if all it needs is the software update try turning the ignition on and of 6 times then try and start it in the 7th time if that makes sense.

What he ^^ said. Although you just need to remove the KAM fuse on Fords, but just D/C the battery for 10 minutes as this is easiest.

Not neccessarily as the fuse protects the memory so if removed no power so does the same thing and saves you D/C battery, make sure if you D/C you have relevant radio codes etc, if applicable on the car.

If it is the cim then your looking at main dealer only anyhows as it'll need configuring (you'll need your security pass also mate)....most main dealers will discount the diagnostic cost from the repair costs also.
