can someone tell me whats involved in running these on a cosworth.. does it use the original sensors and siemens injectors. does it do away with the distributor and ignition amp.. its for a 2wd cosworth with gt3076 currently on l8. or the other one ive seen on here vipec..?
thanks for any help.
thanks for any help.
theres a few problems in "doing away with the distributor" on a yb, firstly, the bottom half of the dizzy shaft is used to drive the oil pump, secondly if you want to run full sequential fuel injection you will need to have a sensor on the cams to sense engine phase (remember the cams more at half crack speed)
Vipec is by far the better option just in terms of customer support, Autronic fail horribly on this front.
I personally love the Autronic though, and wont be swapping my SM4 for viped, Im too used to it now and I really do prefer the mapping interface on it as well (think even sheady does TBH, its very good once you are familiar with it)
As MikeR mentions, Sheady is the UK's leading authority on both these ecu's and hence the only person worth listening to really!
Both will work on cossie sensors, although they run their own map sensors instead (autornic is internal, not sure on the vipec) and I think Mark will prefer using a quicker reacting airtemp sensor than the cossie one.

thanks for getting back i think ill ring him on monday.. im having problems with my setup at the min where the car will run then all of a sudden revs up and down then starts missing revcounters going mad then it dies.. crank it back over and theirs no spark. had to get the rac to lift the car home last week on my way home from work which made a 3 hour journy 10 hours.. ive replaced phase sensor rotor arm and cap , leads crank sensor ignition amp and engine loom all for brand new and its still not working. was only mapped a few month ago. i just thought as it seems so many people have this same problem and cant seem to cure it if i could do away with the dizzy ect for a more modern setup couldnt do any harm.

On the Autronic you remove two lugs of bottom pully and one of the dizzy,
You can still use the stock coil and dizzy for the spark or a coil pack or 4 coils which is what I normaly use,
The Vipec can use all the stock sensors.

thanks for that .. ideally id like to do away with the cap and rotor arm setup.. would i need a loom making up for these or do i modify my existing one.. also would you say that autronic is worth thr 500 extra.. ill call on monday about prices ect..
I would recomend making a new loom and running 4 coils,
The price diff is £800 if you are using 4 inj and £400 if you need 8, They are both as good as each other so its up to you to which you want.
