Hi my 56k focus has had a new the clutch, DMF, 3 injectors, software update as well as an oil,fuel and air filter change and a new exhaust my TDCI has developed a new fault.

It needs 2500RPM to pull away in first gear and pours out a shed load of black smoke. its had the EGR valve cleaned in the past and has no fault codes on a diagnostic scan it. local diesel specialist is stumped and has recommended a chip change?

Can anyone give some thoughts on what the issue could be please??

Big bucks spent and stilll no joy. in every othe rgear the car drives and pulls fantastic.

try a air flow mass first mate it sound like a egr fault clean the valve dose not do the job fit a new one

 

Cheers yeah thats the conclusion we came to the EGR is filthy and it takes a massive amount pressure to get it to move via a hand pump plus it was cleaned only a year or two back but suppose it sufficient enough time to get clogged innit. egr aint cheap air mass meter is not as expensive so what symptoms would a faulty air mass show as??
