Come on
If there's not a good turn out this year, do you think they'll be able to move it back to Donnington next year
or even if there will be another National Day next year.

We'll be there!!
Wish people would stop moaning about it not being at Donny! It's not the RSOC's fault! There are static shows that get a good turnout and have a good atmosphere, but there are too many people writing this show off before it's even happened which is hardly what the Ford scene needs.

Agreed, track action is not the be all and end all, Uxbridge auto show is an example, static show but still an enjoyable day out

Absolutly 100% spot on...!!!!
I NEVER watch any track action at any track show it bores me to tears unless I'm actually on track (which I've not done for years)... I've organised 5 days at Bedford Autodrome and only ever tracked it twice, I enjoy the social side more than anything.

I know what you are saying Dave but far too many people have the "it's gonna be shit coz there's no track action"....

Steve ,
its a day for the rsoc to try and make money, trying get as many people there as possible, they cannot do this with just a field event, no matter how many 'mates' turn up for a chat etc...thats not going to make them a profit imo.
Ok, fair enough, Donno was off this year and tbh the field event IS better than nothing but maybe they could of tried other venues with a track for the other members to use and therefore attract more people.
Not really having a dig because the team has worked hard as always organising this big day, just hopefully it will be back 'home' again next year.
Love to see the figures too what they make this year compared to last.
Good luck for Sunday.

I know exactly what you are saying regarding ŁŁŁ and I really like Donno but after last years fiasco I think that the RSOC made a good choice with Stanford Hall as it's a superb place.... I'm sure that 2011 will be back to Donno or similar.
Won't be there, why would I bother coming all the way from Dublin,ferries/hotels/fuel/food plus the odd beer to park up in a field??If its just for the social side of things, then I can go to the AGM at East Midlands Airport hotel, cheap airfare and meet all the diehard RS members without having the extra expense of getting the car over.Jasus,I done Stanford Hall for Fordfair back in 1992!!Talk about a step backwards by 18 yrs!!!Even a broken down trackcar in the pits has a bit of drama,as the owner starts spannering/borrowing parts/tools to get the car back on track.Somehow I cant even see this exictment at Nat Day this year as a Local group RS owner runs around a field trying to borrow a claybar or a concours entrant has a panic attack because their tub of Brough & Howarth’s Definitive Wax Marble has gone missing!!!
Micky,
there are different people who get a buzz out of different things on Nat Day, us using the track etc...and others polishing their cars...each to their own.
ok, this year we cannot do Nat Day, but its not the end of the world mate.
i'm sure the rsoc WILL do there best to accommodate all types of different tastes for members next year.

the track at ND actually costs the club money rather than makes it
if you look at what donno costs to hire compared with S/hall then add how much the track money brings in you will clearly see that the track entrance money does no where near cover the extra money it costs to have ND at donno
i doubt the track ever has or ever will pay for itsself
Paul,
so what your saying is that the rsoc has been making a loss all these years while at Donington?
what about the Derby rsoc who pay for Croft....they losing money too....really don't think so.
we will see this year on the gate attendance figures if we get to find out and i wonder how much it is to get in too, surely it will be a lot cheaper than Donno.
