washer machine people please
please help cos the witch is doing me head in ha..we got a hotpoint aquarius wdl540 washer dryer combo but the dryer part has suddenly gone off..im guessing its the heating element or the likes..any idea what it looks like before i start buying randon spares and pulling the whole thing to bits? looking at it im guessing its the coil spring thingy but not 100% sure.. or if its not the element any ideas what it could be..cheers
you need to be measuring a voltage at the element, but it not getting hot for it to be that.
There may be an overload that needs resetting - don't know if your model has one.
There will also be a thermostat in there somewhere that might be dead. Again, voltage measurement will prove it.
Go careful with the cover off and it plugged in eh?

is that coil thing the element your talking about..i wont be testing the voltage, will get someone who knows what they are doing with electric..it packed up before but was under warranty and never found out what the fault was cos the dragon didnt askthe tech who fixed it..anyone else shed some light or offer any pointers please?
Post a question on www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk if you want a decent definitve answer but......when you say its gone off , what do you mean ? That its not heating ?
I'd never condone live testing on an appliance but you could check the dryer heater for continuity . From experience , it should read between 25 - 45 ohms . There may be an overheat stat too which might have popped which will cut the circuit to the heater but then something must have caused this to pop.

Recently had that on my bosch washer dryer, a underwire bra had got sucked into a pipe at the front of the drum and jammed the whole thing, repair was well over £500 so had a new one instead, glad I got extended warranty, then had the problem of explaining where the bra came from as wasn't the gf's ha ha!!
I do know from what the man said that the overheat stat had popped, and it burnt out a board at the front.
