Default tile adhesive setting time?

gotta be someone on here in the know.

been doing my bathroom for a few weeks now, finished tiling on thursday night and the plumber came in saturday to fit everything up. i got home saturday night to find broken tiles behind the shower screen he'd fitted. rang him up and he's been back today to put right but he's rang me and said the reason the tiles are breaking is because they aren't set yet. they'd had a good 36+ hours before he got there and started drilling them so surely in that time they should be set?

can anyone enlighten me?

did you cover the hole back tile so it was all stuck to wall as if there a gap easy to break when drilling ,use a tile drill works every time even if tiles dot an dabd

probly put too bigger screw in an cracked it

i do tiling basically everyday they are always fine to drill into the next day 24hrs they should be completly dry. as for drilling into tiles you can use proper tile drill bits or masonary bits into the cheaper tiles not granite, porcelin, marble etc. ask the plumber how he drilled the holes as in was the drill on hammer ? you never know...

As above, should be no problem using proper tile drill bits NOT on hammer.

Yea, so much easier than the bits I've posted above

These bits don't:

Skate around getting started
Crack tiles - no matter how close to the edge
Need a hammer drill.

No brainer

I was unsure about these - but liked the idea. It's NOT hammer for tiles right?

Those Bosch drills are amazing.used them for everything in my house with no bother.masonry drills were fine for my tiles in the bathroom but they were travertine.

I put them on the floor as well and specifically told the missus NOT to walk on them until their set properly the next day.what does she do?walk straight over them and crack three just to close the window ARGHHHHH!!!

Had to redo the floor then so I put them on tile cement then instead,no probs since.
